Maybe the Vikings could trade Barr and implement a 3rd safety (right now it'd be Anthony Harris) and play Gedeon more often?

Yup, there I go praising the Patriots just as their LBs stunk up the game with some pretty terrible run stopping. I still like the 3 safety idea, though it does have its weaknesses as the Patriots lost starting safety Patrick Chung in the second half and they were playing 3 safeties at all times with even 4 on the field (as a slot corner).

That is a fantastic assessment. I wish folks in the media understood the salary cap half as well as this guy.

Barr is a wild card. Unlike Diggs/Hunter/Kendricks, he is not heavily motivated to cooperate on an extension. If the extension doesn't get done, we need to ask ourselves is he really worth $12M for 2018? That's more than the difference in cost of a Cousins versus a Keenum.

The only guy I would be interested in is Trey Burton. We need another TE who can complement Rudolph on double TE set passing plays.

I would love to sign Burton but he's going to get a starting role elsewhere. He'll likely make at least $6M a year on a deal, and the Vikings shouldn't be spending that kind of money on a tertiary TE unless Rudolph is going bye-bye.

No,I think Flip will pick the guy he wants.

I also think keeping Stefanski around is for two reasons:

1) continuity with the current staff;

2) Flip might only be here a year or two given that he was a HC candidate this year.If Flip leaves,then Stefanski will be OC.His lack of experience with QBs probably held him back from getting promoted this year.

Sounds like he's going to sit down with the front office, Zim, and probably Stefanski to make that decision. I don't think it's as simple as him picking the guy he wants. He's made it very clear he needs everyone on the same page. But obviously these guys know/care the most about their own guys. I would say they believe in all of them, too. I still don't think Cousins is that big of an upgrade to warrant the kind of money he's going to demand. Kind of nervous about this... bleh.

If it is around $20 million a year pass, If it is $51 million for 3 years, sign him up. Do not want to break the team with a huge QB salary.

This and it bodes well for the team in general. Honestly, assuming Flip has a successful tenure here, he will probably leave after 2 or 3 seasons and that is when Stefanski will get the job after sitting under two great coordinators. That's my prediction. I think this was a long term decision.
