Got to be brutally honest, the Vikings were somewhat lucky to win today but the Packers are definitely overrated. Outside a muffled punt, blown blocking assignment leading to a forced fumble and an inexplicable prevent D (all part of the game) the Packers' probably get blown completely out. The Packers' defense got its asshole torn apart in the first half. Jordan Love had a Brett Favre like game by throwing a ton of yards and TDs but also threw 3 picks. He also sailed some footballs. Overall, I'm happy with the win bit the Packers really didn't impress me at all.
Before retirement I was in a leadership position in my employment and taught evaluating subordinates to other leaders. One of the biases I learned (and later taught) was "Recency Bias" which could create an artificially high evaluation for a person who had performed really well at a task right before their scheduled evaluation. Or, conversely, an artificially lower score for a misstep at a task near this scheduled evaluation.
So here we are: Our latest impression of the Vikings is that they'd be lucky to win a couple more games if the second half is truly indicative of what their play will be for the remainder of the season. Even in this admittedly awful second half there is a deviation from where the Vikings have failed in the past:
They did not, in fact, collapse when all the momentum was going Green Bay's way. I can't speak for anyone else, but I think a few years ago, this team absolutely would have choked and went three and out (instead of the drive for the FG) and then gave up the go-ahead score. A desperation toss to try and tie/win in the final seconds would be intercepted and seal the defeat. That did not happen here.
So yes, I have a concern that this may be the "real Vikings" we saw in the second half. But, the reality is: Do I judge a team (admittedly by their most recent performance) for the 2nd half of the Green Bay game when when I have seven halves of football that indicate that's not who they really are?
But was that the real Sam Darnold who led yet another clutch Game-saving FG drive?
If it is, then the Vikings (or rather Kwesi) struck gold here with his signing.
