The Eagles must see something in some of the 2021 late Rd CB's....they traded for former UCF CB Tay Gowan a few weeks ago (who was drafted in the 6th Rd by Arizona) as part of the Zach Ertz trade, and today they traded a 6th for former LSU CB Kary Vincent (who was drafted by Denver in the 7th Rd). Yes, Anthony Harris & Steven Nelson are on 1-yr deals and Avonte Maddox is on the last year of his rookie deal, but it's not like their secondary cupboard is completely bare after 2021. Maddox is having a very good year for them and if he cashes-in in free agency with another team, they gave themselves an option with Gowan and if Harris goes elsewhere in 2022, Vincent becomes an option for them.

With the Vikings secondary cupboard looking bare in 2022 (H Smith, Boyd, Dantzler, Metellus, Bynum, Hand is our current secondary under contract right now), perhaps a late Rd pick for a 2021 late Rd DB (who made his team's 53-man roster) wouldn't have been a bad play. Vincent hadn't played a snap yet in Denver, but Gowan had a few snaps for Philly in the their win over Detroit this past weekend and graded out fairly.

Also, nice return for Vincent by Paton - he spent a 7th on Kary Vincent in the 2021 Draft and gets a 2022 6th Rd pick back. Paton and Denver loaded up on DB's in the 2021 draft (Surtain, Caden Sterns, Jamar Johnson, Kary Vincent) and sells one of them for more than what he paid.

Kinlaw was a favorite target of many here, though there was concerns about having a bad knee that popped up in the process, but that didn't scare the 49ers away. Right now it seems it should have, as Kinlaw has played poorly in both 2020 and 2021 and is now out indefinitely. As always, I won't rule out a comeback for a player with a sky-high talent ceiling, but right now he has been a bust for the 49ers.

Wow. Looks like they're going to pin their hopes on Newton to revive their offense and try and nab the #7 seed in the NFC.

I am surprised he's going to join a team as the #3 WR, but it makes a lot of sense for him if he wants to win a Super Bowl. I'm still not convinced that he's all that good, but Stafford is playing considerably better than Mayfield is. This feels like a repeat of the Bucs adding Antonio Brown midway through last year.

On one hand, someone could look at that and come to the opinion that the Panthers have made bad decisions at the QB position with all the dead money there...

...and on the other hand, someone could look and say that they took shots, didn't work out, but they cut their losses and moved on. Teddy wasn't worth the money so they moved on...Darnold hasn't exactly improved on his NYJ days to a significant extent so they might move on from him in the 2022 offseason and take another $18m dead money hit for him (unless they find a team willing to trade for him).

Even though I give Carolina some credit for cutting their losses when they knew they were losses, at some point, you actually have to "hit" on a QB or you're just continuing a constant cycle of cutting losses and unnecessarily eating dead cap...
