Sam looking good I don’t want to underscore that but, it’s clear KO is guiding him to realize the talent he was naturally gifted with.
OK, this team is averaging 25.5 ppg in this very early season. It's 8th in the league. In 2022 with healthy Cousins and a schedule that led to 13 wins, they averaged 25.1. This is NOT the '98 Vikings or the Greatest Show on Turf, by any stretch.
O'Connell seemed to be a calming influence on Cousins, and in 2 games he seems to have Darnold avoiding the panic moments he had in the past. That's all good, but does it mean he is on the level of coaches like Andy Reid or Denny Green who have shown they can get truly GREAT production from their QB and surrounding cast. To date, KOC is a winning NFL coach because his team was "opportunistic" in 2022 and because Flores' defense is playing great in 2024. As an offensive coach, ability to adapt to players with different strengths is questionable and seems very choosy about QB style. He was shockingly stubborn about some things, like sticking with Alexander Mattison far too long last year, and even thinking Mattison could carry this team going into 2023.
My point is that a lot of the argument that we can switch seamlessly to McCarthy and he'll be a great QB quickly is based on tremendous confidence in KOC. Has he really earned that esteem??
Nobody is perfect my guy. I will say this not only do I believe in KO but the talent of JJ. I said it before the draft and I was high on him.
It’s all an opinion but I believe in both KO and JJ talent. It’s just how I feel just like it’s how you feel my guy. From there results is what matters. Love bro enjoy the game.
I think KO has guru potential FTR. JMO
