According to many people, this 2024 Vikings team was only supposed to win six games. Clearly, looking back at the 2023 team does not predict how the 2024 team will do. Ten games in, the Vikings have overachieved.
There are many reasons why they win, and having a good defense that stops the run, pressures QBs, and gets turnovers is the foundation. The free agent signings have been incredibly successful. How much better will this Defense be with a young shut-down CB and a stronger, more experienced Dallas Turner? That is possible in 2025.
The Offense has been inconsistent, and despite turnovers and struggles in the Red Zone, the Offense is scoring points. They miss Darrisaw.
Unlike 2022, when the Defense gave up yards and points, this Defense is better at every level, and the scheme is hard on opponents.
What happens when the Offense struggles, turns the ball over, and the Defense gives up Passing Yards without getting turnovers? They lose like they lost to the Rams.
Darnold, while still prone to interceptions and fumbles, is actually less frustrating for me to watch because he moves in the pocket and he escapes often. He was very good against a good Titans Defense, and with JJ, Addison, Hockenson, Jones, and the rest, they are not easy to defend. All of these positives guarantee nothing for the rest of the season or for the playoffs. The Vikings need to keep improving and they need to stay healthy.
