Everyone knows Belichick is the real puppet master in New England. His "coordinators" are just decoys which are used to water down the head coaching talent around the league. The point being, wouldn't it be better if the league just put a freeze on hiring until after the Super Bowl? I wouldn't even allow teams to hint at which coordinators they might target. If a team targets a Super Bowl coordinator they have to wait until the Super Bowl is over anyway, so obviously it isn't too much of a problem to wait an extra month. Teams can't talk to free agent players until the free agency period begins, which is in March I believe, so why not a coaching free agency period that begins in February? That gives coaches a month to get settled in.

While most of the coordinators haven't worked out, I think O'Brien is a good coach and the Texans will be much better with DeShaun Watson at QB. I also have a good feeling about Matt Patrica... that's just a hunch.

I agree on the coaching hires happening in February. They should wait for the offseason to hire new HCs.

Playing a great defense, and doing it on the road, with the demoralizing effects of key defensive injuries while most of our D takes a holiday and our OC wondering when his plane leaves for NY? We didn't need field goals we needed touchdowns. We could have had field goals if outscoring our 2016 playoff selves was the goal.

I'm just looking for consistency, I don't think either game deserves the benefit of excuses. You have to play in the conditions and circumstances you get. But if we make excuses for one game, we should do so for both.

I think we're going to end up missing Pat Shurmur quite a bit... I "hated" Norv Turner (not as a person, just our OC!) and for good reason! Was Shurmur an elite offensive master mind? I think this is worse than losing Tomlin to the Steelers and now I hear we're interviewing BEVELL!?!?!??!?!?!?!?! The only thing worse than Bevell would be to bring Childress and his KICK #### OFFENSE back.

AND TODD HALEY??? I just congratulated my steelers fan friend for getting rid of that idiot who throws it 55 times against the Jaguars #1 pass defense when he has Leveon Bell on his team. Seriously, 55 passes to 15 carries for Bell week 5. The score at halftime was 7 to 6 so it's not like they were getting blown out and HAD to throw.

If we sign either one of those idiots I'm done for good LOL!

Agreed. Some fans haven't gotten over the last game yet. Once they do, hopefully they remember Shurmur was a big reason why the offense was good. I think he's going to do well in New York once he finds the QB he wants to groom.

I don't have any OC recommendations, but I agree with you about Bevell and Haley. I don't trust Bevell without an elite QB. Haley seems like too many coaches out there that's stuck in his own ways.

Agreed, Shurmur was a good OC who built the offense around the players and not around an archaic system, like many OCs do. It'll be difficult to find someone who will be a better playcaller than he was.

Todd Haley is the Cleveland OC now (good luck there!). The Steelers were forced to throw 55 times because their defense was so abysmal... Haley did call two horrible plays on 4th and 1 situations, but they managed to put up 469 yards passing and 42 points against the league's best defense. The halftime score was JAX 28-14.

We already missed Shumur during the NFC Championship. Because obviously he stopped coaching after the 1st TD. lol I'm not going to miss Shurmur. While our offense was efficient it wasn't explosive. There's an easy explanation for why the first drive was so good and the rest were so terrible - most OCs in the league completely script out the first drive of a game and these plays are rehearsed in practice. So I would give him credit for coming up with a good drive but they totally failed to adjust to how the defense attacked them after the second drive. In-game adjustments are critical and Shurmur failed there - one reason why the Patriots are so good is because they can adjust competently.

I was talking about the week 5 game in the regular season they played. And yeah, I was blown away by the stretch run they did on 4th and 1 I believe for like a -2 yard loss lol like what the hell is that just pound it up the gut for a yard man or run play action.

CLE actually has a ton of talent, that team is not that far away from being decent which I know probably sounds weird after 0-16. They gave up an unbelievable amount of points off Kizer turn overs, they had a +/- of -28 in turnover differential and to put that into perspective Denver was 2nd worst with -17, Oak and MIA were -14, etc. Assuming they pick the right QB out of this stacked draft (which you know, it's cleaveland...) I could see them having a nice bounce back year. I still wouldn't hire Haley but he's probably better than what they had I suppose.
