...you wanna play with the "big boys" and get the fat TV contract revenues, then someone has to pay the price...unfortunately, it's not only the football programs that will pay the price of traveling back-n-forth across the country, but all the other collegiate sports like basketball, volleyball, baseball, gymnastics, etc.
I guess perhaps the one benefit of traveling from coast-to-coast (for the football teams) is they would be getting experience for that before the NFL level when there is coast-to-coast travel. It used to be that you bet against the team doing the heavy traveling and it would be a big disadvantage, but if more and more collegeiate players are used to the travel, it's not as much of a disadvantage at the pro level anymore.
