When he gets cut I will switch my allegiance to Team Gabriel Murphy.
Everything else is pretty much spot-on though: Richter was a bit faster in the 40, and his 10-yd split (ie, short-area burst) was slightly faster than Murphy, but they are basically the same player when looking at the physical measurements & testing. In fact, Brugler's 2024 "Beast Guide" had this to say about Murphy: "39.5-inch vertical was behind only Dallas Turner among edge rushers in the class", and if that's the case and if Turner had a 40.5 VJ, that means that Richter was actually 2nd best behind Turner and the Vikings have the Top 3 OLB/EDGE prospects in the 2024 class in terms of Vertical Jump scores - and quite possibly overall physical testing scores.
Both played ST in college and both have similar style games: they won't be able to lock-up with opposing OT's and win with their shorter arms and that also might lead to trouble wrapping-up and tackling (we've seen this a bit with Richter in the preseason), so they need to use their athletic profiles to bend around edges and shoot gaps to create pressure. Both look like sub-package OLB/EDGE players. Murphy has the edge because he's played more football (played at North Texas for 3 seasons before transferring to UCLA for 2, vs Richter who just has 3 yrs at Air Force and broke out in 2023) and Richter surely needs to more "seasoning", which is why he'll likely have to spend a year on the PS getting more practice/scout reps before trusting him even in any subpackage roles on defense, but both have the same athletic profiles.
