With so few draft picks in 2025 (even if we're awarded a 3rd Rd comp for Cousins signing with Atlanta), the plan always seemed to be to restock the roster in free agency with all the cap space that was generated by getting rid of the bloated contracts and "eating" dead cap in 2024. The potential problem is that perhaps part of that plan was to have McCarthy take reps and possibly start games later in the 2024 season so show potential free agents that the Vikings are a team "on the rise" and that they shoud hop on board if they want to compete at a high level - sort of like how Houston showcased themselves as the "IT" team in the NFL this past offseason after Stroud's great rookie season. With just 1 preseason performance under his belt, can Kwesi "sell" the 2025+ window with McCarthy if no one has seen him take a Regular Season snap?

The Vikings organization has done an excellent job of building a great "culture" for the players to be in, as is evident by their high marks in the last two NFLPA Report Cards. But while building a great "culture" is probably good for the overall stability of the organization, it doesn't necessarily translate to "wins" in free agency or ultimately to "wins" on the football field itself.

The "window" that was supposed to open in 2025, might not be fully opened now until 2026, until the NFL "world" sees if McCarthy & O'Connell are an "IT" NFL team that can contend.

What went from "there's always next season" has turned into "2026 or Bust"...

Just saw on pft that it was a full repair for the surgery and he is out the whole season. Well that settles that. Whole year to sit and study and learn. Wish he could practice to further his development but he should be assumed to be the starter week one next year.

Not only out for the season, but his muscles will go through some atrophy and if you don't use it you lose it so most of the gains he made at OTAs and Training Camp will be lost.

It’s never better for you to miss a year rehabbing. I will be on from time to time but unless we balling I’m off line more than on.

I waited years and then evaluated him and loved the talent. Still do but now if he even hit a hand on a helmet people will call him injury prone.

Why us. I get it things happen but we get way past our fair share. Call me a big baby because this sucks.

I feel like crying. You should see the frown on my face. Not that he won’t come back, but now next year a leap of faith. Either you take that leap pay a guy a ton and waste a second year. So now 2025 come up could mean 2026. Then don’t let him miss games next year or it gets half way through his rookie deal with injury worries.

Even if we drafted Peyton Manning his knee would of gotten hurt early. One damn preseason game and that’s it 🤦🏾

To me it was obvious he was going to be very good and probably still will be. I'm not going to promote the idea of drafting another first round QB next year.
