Adofo-Mensah made a decision on Thielen in early 2023. He is not going to go backwards. Thank god the GM doesn't do his job like a Vikings fan would.
Adofo-Mensah has a strategy for building his roster, he isn't going to compromise that for the nostalgia for past players from the fan base.
T-H-I-E-L-E-N! There is no A in his last name.
And he isn't coming back, and wouldn't want him if he did. Yes, he had 100 catches and 1000 yards last season...because he was the only viable option Bryce Young had, and because most everything he caught was short. He averaged less than 10 yards per catch AND had 40% of his receptions and yards, plus 50% of his TDs in a 4 game stretch early in the season.
The sheer volume of targets force fed to him in the hopes Young would develop some confidence doesn't negate that he was largely checkdown safety blanket. Could Darnold or McCarthy use such a guy? Probably but I would rather that guy be Aaron Jones, Ty Chandler, Brandon Powell...any of any number of other options who are far more dangerous with the ball in their hands than Adam T-H-I-E-L-E-N.
