The difference being the '98 game was a close heart breaker, whereas we got blowed out in all the Bowls lol. I never got to see the Bowls, but to me, none of the 4 championship game loses even resemble any of the bowl loses. 3 of the NFCCG's came down to the games final play, and the other was too big of a blowout. Nothing like any of Bowls, other than we lost. I imagine, there was probably still some hope late in those Bowls, but the games were never really close. Super Bowl 4 had to be similar to '98 when it came to expectations.

I thought the Vikings put up a terrific fight against Pittsburgh in Super Bowl IX and that one was close most of the way. Turnovers and a controversial call late in the game killed them but it was a defensive battle. Those Vikings teams had the misfortune to run into some mismatches and juggernauts and as good as they were, their offense just never seemed to show up in the Super Bowl. The defenses they faced had a lot to do with that.

In the end, once I was able to get some perspective on it, I realized that for the most part, they simply lost to better teams in those games.

I was sick after every loss. I actually think i took the 2009 championship loss the hardest of any of them.

I do think that if they go to a Superbowl i won't enjoy a minute of it unless we clean the opponants clocks. I will sit in anticipation of us blowing it for the whole game. I will of course have to tape the game so i can watch it later without all the angst if we win. If we lose another it will be very difficult to come back to the sport. It may take a couple of years.

All that to say i think if we go to a Superbowl and lose it will be harder than all the others because I've waited so long only to have my purple and gold heart crushed again.
