Cautiously Optimistic is my state of mind.
The Pass Rush has been addressed and addressed in spades. Sure, they don't have a legit IDL who can get after the QB. Half the League doesn't have one either. And they swung huge on Wilkins but missed.
My shtick for years has been 'where is the third Defender that can consistently generate pressure?'. Well, they have 3 on the D-Line alone. Along with 2 ILBs and at least one Safety.
The CB room continues to lack a CB1. But they have two CB2s and a couple of kids with upside. And money to buy a CB1 next offseason.
Depth is a concern but I think Minnesota is very active during Roster cutdowns. Kwesi was constantly adding and subtracting at the margins of the Roster last year and I expect that to continue.
IOL is still a massive concern for me personally. But when I listen to smart guys from all the major outlets talk about what a Rookie QB is walking into they never say 'but boy is the Interior of their Offensive Line a mess'. They're barely average, really. Which is glaring to us versus how good Darrisaw and O'Neil are. But are they actually bad?
Does it really matter? Name the 9ers Center and Right Guard. They're just dudes. I'd love upgrades. And Kwesi can buy two thirds of the Chiefs IOL if he and Kevin are so inclined.
I'd like to see one more veteran added at RB & WR for reliable depth.
But overall it comes down to whether they can develop JJ McCarthy or not. If they can't they're gone. Simple as that. I think they can.
So a few more Starters, better depth and can Kevin O'Connell become a better Playcaller. A far cry from Cousins induced purgatory. I don't think Sam Darnold is going to help the Team win more games then he loses. And that's OK. Higher draft pick means more Day 2 Capital can be acquired in a trade back. And it's a deep DT Class in '25.
More work to be done, but headed in the right direction.
