Yeah, uh I'm not seeing that game winning drive in his stats or ours. What I do see is 11 drives, none of them game-winning, and only 2 of them went for more than 30 yards. Two drives more than 30 yards, despite a 2.5 minute edge in TOP. No TD's, only 2 yards rushing with 2 good legs. That is the sum total of Teddy's career playoff accomplishments in reality. But your fictional what-if version has definite appeal, just as all what-if fictions do. What if Cousins had thrown to JJ on 4th and 8? What if Zimmer's defense had shown up for the NFCCG? What if Brett hadn't made such a Brett-ish throw? All these and more what-ifs are locked up in the closet of Viking Memories we'd rather forget.
I don't know how i missed the similarities!
He was mediocre before and mediocre after his horrible injury
but yeah. He showed promise but never really put it together. I'm tired though of seeing great things out of TC and even some good games in pre-season only for the suckage to continue. Bradford week 1 before his knee injury was probably more the real deal. Too bad he decided to have the first healthy season of his career the year prior.
Yes he had a nice 5-0 run there that had some thinking he had finally arrived. And he wasn't terrible after that...he finally got his td/game average up above 1.0 but he certainly never lived up to expectations. In his prime he was only mildly improved over his years here. I also never heard him or anyone else claim that his leg hampered him after his comeback it so I don't buy the health excuse. He ended up having a career that was just about right for a late first round pick that should have been a 2nd rounder.
