McCarthy looks like Chad Henne or a stronger armed less athletic Alex Smith.
And a "stronger armed" Alex Smith is a top 10 QB in the NFL, I would take that on a rookie contract. And I don't know if I buy that he is less athletic, McCarthy is very fast - he ran one of the fastest 3 cone times ever for a QB - 6.82 seconds. Which, now that I look up Alex Smith's RAS scores, dang, he also ran a 6.82 3 cone! Funny coincidence.
I don't buy any of this "now we know because it was leaked" BS. If it happens every year then it's a tactic to misinform other teams. Nothing is so formulaic.
I think the only decent QB to come out of this draft will be Daniels and by decent I just mean he'll still be in the league in 5 to 10 years.
No it isn't. How is it bold to claim that most of them will bust? You get one, MAYBE 2 good QBs out of the average draft.
Chad Henne was a game manager. Alex Smith was a game manager, and a sh*tty one at that. He had a few good years in the league but only saw the postseason a few times and it was always from being carried by a great team
As for busting okay, here, if I had to break it down:
Williams: I see too many attitude problems here. I don't think his family's meddling is going to make his life easy and in fact they are being outrageous in their demands. On top of this Williams had a great team around him. Chicago is absymal for QBs. It's not southern California. I think he needs to separate himself from his familiar faces and start reaching out to successful people in the league and do what they tell him to. His inner circle is f*cked
McCarthy: I've already outlined this a bit. Low upside and basically carried through school by his powerhouse team.
Nix: another low ceiling game manager. Okay, maybe he becomes a backup, I guess I can make a change there
Penix: I think Penix would be a very high pick if he didn't get hurt so much. Sucks for him. Obviously likely to get injured right out of football
Maye: big boom or bust. Definitely Josh Allen, Mitch Trubisky, Ryan Tannehill outcomes possible. Remember Jake Locker?
I think Daniels makes it just from his athleticism and the fact he might be able to avoid a lot of hits. If it wasn't Daniels I'd probably bet on Maye. It's hard to say obviously.
