Less demand at QB? Especially in one of the most top heavy QB drafts in years. Come on man!
Yes the flexibility to move up. That trade was made for a team they want to move up with to show they're serious. That trade didn't need to be made at all and surly not before the draft if they just wanted "flexibility". You don't just randomly trade up to pick 23 in no man's land. Talk about showings your hand. If they wanted to drop back they would have never got pick 23.
But only a really dumb organization trades up no matter what if the player they want isn’t available. And only a poorly run front office moves up to take a player that wasn’t the optimal fit for their offensive system just to placate a fan. So yeah- if the guy they want becomes available at a spot that they can get to then it is something they need to weigh and if it makes sense do it.
But if the ideal player is gone then trading assets to move up and take them knowing they were not the optimal fit is something that gets you fired. The better plan is to be smart and not draft someone who doesn’t fit your system.
No one is stating that. What's being said is they didn't do the first move without confirmation from a team up top. It makes absolutely no sense to do so. The team(s) they're in contact with can now determine what they want along with the Vikings in compensation. No one I have read that wants to trade up wants to just grab anyone. That's the people that don't want to trade up. If they have a target I feel confident they will get them.
