Rookie Quarterbacks - Who is your preference?

There's a lot of belief that Maye could be available at pick 11. 

For me this is simple: the Patriots want Jayden Daniels. And both the Cardinals and Chargers want to entice the Giants or Vikings to trade up for McCarthy (or Maye if he slides). That's it. End of story.

The Giants might think about McCarthy at #6, but they aren't trading up for QB4 with a Roster that far away from contention. I'd say 50/50 on stick and pick McCarthy at #6 versus trading back with Minnesota, Denver or Las Vegas.

We have to remember that the Giants knew Jones was a risk when they extended him. Why else have a somewhat reasonable out after this year? The Falcons don't have a reasonable out with Cousins after this year or next. So NY clearly wasn't completely sold.

And we also need to acknowledge that other Teams are aware that next year's QB Class is lacking. Deion isn't letting Shadeur go anywhere unless it's an ideal situation AND/OR it's a huge media market. Carson Beck hasn't shown a better ceiling than McCarthy yet. Ewers stinks. Anyone else will only have 1 good season of collegiate production whereas all of the Top 6 in this Draft have 2 good seasons.

But it's still QB4 we're talking about. Without the raw numbers of successful QBs that were QB3 or QB4 when they came out. The Giants probably hope Minnesota jumps ahead of them so they are guaranteed one of Harrison or Nabers. But you can't completely rule them out on JJ. That's why I wouldn't trade with Arizona. Let New York pay the extra amount if they want him. #11 & #23 is enough. If Monti wants more then draw your line in the sand.

But if the Chargers also want more than that I'm willing to make the Giants take McCarthy and adjust my plans accordingly. The price to get to #7, or ironically to #8, is much more palatable.

Now if Washington does something I think is foolish and passed on the 3rd Best Player in this Draft (Maye) to take the 12th Best Player in this Draft (Daniels) then I'm movin' on up. New England wants Jayden also. The 195 pound unicorn that gets sacked or runs 50% of the time when he gets pressured of his spot. Jalen Hurts extra light but with much better accuracy.

If the Patriots, who suck as much because of who remains as they do because of Belicheat, are willing to pass on Maye in order to trade down give them three 1sts and something else. A '26 3rd or something. Just not the '26 1st.

Washington is the first inflection point. Arizona and their asking price is the second. If McCarthy is on the Board at #6 that's the next inflection point. We'll see what happens.
