If I said I knew him I quite obviously meant as much as a fan can know a pro athlete. I've spent 68 years learning how to understand who people are by what I see them do and I'm a very good judge of character. Again, my opinion. You can believe seeing an edited version of excerpts from his life constitute a facade....that's YOUR opinion.

Also your choice to wish failure on him or any other ex-Viking- says more about you than it does about them, given they gave their all for YOUR team right up to the point they were no longer ON your team. Personally, it's not like I wish them great success, I just harbor no ill will.

Regarding Kirk, we'll just have to agree to disagree about WHY he's a Falcon.

If you actually believe any of the crap Kirk puts out then you're just naive, that's a fact. Kirk knows there's money to be made putting on this persona, leveraging it against the team to get more money in his contract... I could go on. You're defending a semi billionaire here bud. Kirk chose to go to a lesser team because he is all about the money and you can root for him to succeed after he left your favorite team without a QB chasing green, but ypu should know most Vikings fans will be rooting for him to fail.

99%+ disagreement. When it's that much more money that 99%+ of all players placed in that position would take the money it was the Vikings forcing him out. The Vikings gave him no choice.

Do you hear players criticizing the character of teammates to any significant degree EVER in the NFL? No. So either the NFL is 100% composed of guys with great work ethic and character so their teammates can be perfectly honest, OR these players have been taught, since HS or earlier, to praise their teammates and spew standard platitudes any time a microphone is near their mouth. Come on, Matt Kalil had teammates telling reporters he had a great work ethic. I have a strong sense these guys all know that bashing your teammates will get you blackballed from the NFL faster than kneeling during the national anthem. It means NOTHING.

As for voting the starting QB as "Captain"? I looked at this a few years ago when the Bears kept voting Jay Cutler - an obvious jerk even if his teammates wouldn't say so - as team captain. Know what? Every established QB, and even highly-drafted rookies like Anthony Richardson that Colts veterans barely knew last year, get "voted" in as a team captain. NFL teams want their starting QB to have that C on their uniform for some image reason. Again: it means NOTHING.

Sure, they may have genuinely felt those things - but we have no reputable evidence about it, certainly not from their public comments or from the "captain elections".

I'm actually waiting for some NFL player to retire and give an open description of how captains get elected because I think the coaches hand out the ballots with the approved selections marked. Maybe there is an option to flip the ballot over to do a write-in but you have to sign your own waiver slip first.
