And I'm still waiting for my inbox to light up with a PM from someone here to partner up with me for season tickets. It's not as easy to stomach a likely setback when it's your hard-earned money being flushed down the toilet. That's why I've always advocated for the competitive rebuild and Kirk mentoring the QBOTF on the way out. BUT, I could maybe tolerate Minshew, Mayfield (not happening), or even Wilson just because he's cheap, athletic, and I like him. But Darnold, Brissett, Lance, etc.? Come on now. No, thank you. I've watched some bad Vikings teams/games before, but never had to fully commit to a $ea$on of it. And I still don't want to. So, hopefully it's Kirk or a rookie QBOTF. The only bridge I want is Bridgewater, and he's retired.
For what it's worth, I think in the Vikings minds if Kirk's gone then it's all out to get a Rookie QB and wouldn't be shocked if they trade up well before the draft if they can get someone to budge. Carolina and Chicago pulled off their trade around March 12th last year. The 49ers traded up with Miami on March 26 in '21.
I get that. And I wouldn't TOTALLY hate it, but as I said, the cost to move up is going to be a lot, especially when it's obvious to everyone in the NFL world we're desperate. More high draft picks dedicated to the offense when the defense needs the most help. It's just unfortunate how this has all played out. And that's what I'm getting at. No perfect solution; just several crummy ones.
