Give an Out-of-Box QB Proposal

I'm offering a different perspective. That's all. I'm saying I agree with the "competitive rebuild" mindset - and finding that balance as the roster is being improved - but I haven't seen enough from this regime to be overly optimistic, especially if we lose Cousins and Hunter. I mean, we're days away from possibly having no QB, no RB, no edge rushers, ... somewhere between no/question marks at corner and for certain question marks with the depth elsewhere. Super Bowl, homeboy! Spending a lot of resources to get a QBOTF doesn't fix the problem, nor does over-spending in free agency to patch things up. Build through the draft; supplement with free agency. I'd be more optimistic if the past two drafts produced more talent. But they didn't, and I'm not. I wanted to keep Kirk, possibly look at QBOTF if it made sense, and let B-Flo cook in the draft. That was my preference. Being SOL at the quarterback position was NEVER supposed to be part of the plan. I assure you, both KAM and KO would tell you that same thing.

I hear you and I respect your view. They may mess it up but imo Kirk not saving them. So in my view why tie down. Hunter a different story I wanted to work something out. I understand your concerns and I can’t promise they draft better. I only can opinion a path. After that it’s just one part. They would have to pick right. I can’t promise you they can. I do feel they deserve a few years to see if we move on. See we can disagree because you just state your why and after we both say that nothing else can be done that’s our opinion. After this long week the decisions are in and we live on. I want to win or a feeling we have a plan. I can’t wait for this stressed stuff to end, so we can accept what they decide like always.

so if the current regime brought back Kirk and Danielle would you suddenly trust them? Idk maybe let the offseason play out before completely passing judgment on what this coach and gm can do. There's no game this week so there's time. And in reality there's other QBs in the world who can lead this team and there's alot of edge players who can rush the passer. I'm guessing we will find some

not when you look at the original plan. If the plan was to try and compete with Kirk and the vets for two years while resetting the cap and turning over the roster then aren't we there? Obviously the 2022 draft wasn't part of that plan but we are in position to land our qb of the future and possibly add a few free agent pieces this offseason to set up hopefully a perennial playoff team in 2025 and beyond. And there's no rule saying we can't exceed expectations this year. Exciting times imo

Sign Jameis Winston as a Free Agent. Winston had managed to lead a top 3 scoring offense 2 seasons in a row in TB and has the physical tools to be a really good QB in this league. Obviously not our QBOTF, but a guy who can be that bridge QB who hands over the reigns to our real QBOTF 5-8 games in.

Why the Vikings would want him: Winston is one of the few remaining gun slingers in the NFL and fits the McVay/KOC offense well. Mullens excelled (for him) in this offense and he and Winston couldn't be more similar. He is good enough to keep things interesting and was solid in his 7 starts with the Saints in 2021 when he had good coaching, throwing only 3 interceptions that season.

What Winston would cost: 5-10 million at most. This is his last shot at proving he has the ability to start in the NFL and he will take less to play with JJ and Addison.

Why the Vikings wouldn't want to sign him: When the Saints gave him the start in 2022 he only lasted 3 games before getting hurt and he wasn't very good in those 3 games. After a great start in week 1, he was awful the next two games before his back injury became too much. The fact the Saints didn't put him back in after he came back from that injury speaks volumes. Also, he is a complete POS human being.
