It makes you wonder why they replaced Rick if they just wanted to keep doing the same stuff Rick did. I said at the time they hired KAM/KOC that it doesn't make sense to change regimes then hamstring the new guys with a run it back scheme that just delays the inevitable.
I think they somehow thought they had the right components of a successful recipe and their chefs just couldn't make it work. They fired the guys who pulled all those pieces together, so they must have had other reasons to blame Spielman and Zimmer.
I realize I am starting to become a broken record about the idea that the Wilfs wanted and may still want to keep Kirk and that even a good scientist can be the victim of self-reinforcing evidence, so I'm really interested to get new solid evidence, such as
I fully buy that KOC and KAM were strongly hinted to that ownership thought they had a winning team reinforcing the idea to bring Kirk and the others back to see what happens. Then they had that wacky 13 win season which backed up the idea with false evidence. Last year was the reality check.
I think there is a real question as to what side of the fence KOC and the Wilf's are on. I have almost zero doubt Kwesi wanted and still wants to move Kirk out. He said enough since he's been here to read where he stands.
Kevin, I don't know. In a vacuum I'm sure he'd prefer the known quantity at the most importatnt position, but it's not in a vacuum. The Kirk decision either way will affect everything else on the team.
Then you have the Wilf's, did they see enough this year to shake off their fear of becoming the Lions when the Lions just steamrolled right past them? Add in Green Bay didn't fall off a cliff after Rodgers and is instead right back in it already and the Bears have a huge chance to jump them too. They may have ended up being the Lions anyway.
