The 2021 Draft QB Class...5 QB's selected in Rd 1:
- Trevor Lawrence: QB1 in Jacksonville; likely to get 2nd contract
- Zach Wilson: multiple chances to become QB1; will likely be traded & be relegated to QB2 status
- Trey Lance: traded from original team for 4th Rd pick; QB3 in Dallas
- Justin Fields: chances to be QB1 under two, different HC's and about to be traded
- Mac Jones: lost QB1 status and traded for Day 3 pick,
Sometimes you get a Draft year like 2020 when you get a Burrow, Tua, Herbert & Love in the 1st Rd (basically all "hits" to some degree) and sometimes you get a 2021 Class in which you get a 20% hit rate for Rd 1 QB's...
The question before teams needing a QB in the 2024 Draft (ie, Vikings) is this: do they think the 2024 QB Class will resemble the 2020 Class...or the 2021 Class?
We only need the one we get to be good. The rest don’t matter to be honest. Draft the player not the class. Some of these teams above didn’t do enough around the guy. No weapons on Mac. A on purpose rebuild on Fields. Circumstances matters imo. These teams have seen many prospects. From a physical stand point they can see who has the physical talent.
From there how you handle them and scheme and put around them is huge factors. The problem is if everyone trying somebody has to fail. Just don’t be us the ones who fail. Surroundings is the biggest key.Great decision making teams can miss too 9 ers and Steelers now. They missed and still made playoffs and stay there most years.
Another factor processing of information under duress. Not when calm in chaos. Between two ex QBs surely they can figure it out hopefully
