It's a good problem to have 4 WRs you really like on the roster. I am sure you wouldn't be talking trade if the Vikings had 4 WRs you feel great about.
I know NFL "insiders" speculate trades are in the works all the time, but the Niners have said they have no interest in trading Samuel or Aiyuk. I prefer to pay more attention to the guys that run the show, over the guys that are paid to dig up possible drama.
My guess is they eventually get a deal done with Aiyuk (maybe in 2025) and move on from Samuel next year, then Pearsall will be WR2, Jennings WR3 and maybe Cowing WR4. But they have the flexibility to do something else if the rookies don't pan out as hoped.
When you draft the best player available, late in the first round, of course you hope he develops well and that the head coach may move him up the depth chart. This doesn't mean that drafting a WR in the first round makes the GM immediately start making plans to get rid of current assets at the position. I first responded to you on this matter, when you were trying to decide what would it take to get Aiyuk in a trade. Once you agreed an Aiyuk trade wasn't happening, you started shifting to saying Deebo will be traded. The only reason Deebo was brought up by me was because he asked for a trade in 2022 like Aiyuk is now. I simply said the Aiyuk situation will end up the same, no trade. Yes, we agree Deebo is more likely to be traded than Aiyuk, in a year or so, but any future trade is total speculation at this point. Again, the 49ers are very happy with their current WR room. Great depth is not a problem. Needs also can change from July to September. If a WR goes down in camp, then you are even more happy you built good depth.
The bottom line..
The 49ers are well run, and their GM knows his job is to sustain the success of the franchise. That is why you draft a WR in the first round that you project to be a very good player, when you already have 3 very good WRs in tow.
