Apologies to the guy I blocked for posting in his thread. I didn't realize it was his and try hard not to do that as common courtesy.
If Minnesota doesn't take him at #11 I can guarantee you that Sean Payton will. And I think we can all agree that it would suck to watch that butt face develop a Franchise QB that the Vikings passed on.
And I still wouldn't do it. Why? The same reason that I wouldn't trade up for Daniels or Maye unless they fell to #7.
Too many holes. The Team needs to come out of this Draft with 3 Starters. Frankly, with no 3rd because of the Hockenson trade, I would actually trade back to around #17. I'm still virtually guaranteed one of Verse, Latu, Murphy or Newton. All are legitimately Day 1 Starters.
In the 2nd I can nab a Starting Center, Left Guard or CB if TJ Tampa falls. And now I've got my 3rd back. Where again I can shop for Trenches help or a CB upgrade.
This is simply too good of a Draft that coincides with Minnesota having many holes on their Roster. If you burn your 1st & 2nd on Daniels he will inarguably be on the least talented Team in the NFC North.
If you spend #11 on McCarthy then you get to add one more Starter and that's it. Sure, there are RBs that will be available in the 4th that can start. And some big CBs that can push for playing time.
And McCarthy unquestionably can't start this year. Which means money spent on a bridge plus Kirk's dead cap hit. So no real cap advantage in Year 1 of the Rookie Contract.
I've said it before. The plan was always to get to this point. But what Kwesi and Kevin weren't counting on were back to back drafts that did absolutely nothing to replenish the Defense along with too many FA busts.
Take your medicine and build the damn Trenches. Then come back in '25 or '26 with a much more complete and competitive Roster and do what it takes to get your guy.
