I think this guy does a great job of breaking down all of the passing plays of the Top QB prospects and while I respect his knowledge of the WR routes and what type of plays the offenses are running and how the QB responds to those plays to what the defense does, the one problem I have is that he is being somewhat "selective" in the games he's choosing to break the QB's down in detail for his YouTube channel.
It's widely known that Drake Maye's last two collegiate games - @ Clemson and @ NC State - were not his two best games and the "Pocket Presence" guy chose the NC State to break down, so naturally Maye probably doesn't look so hot. He chose one of, if not the best, game of Penix's career (National Semifinal vs Texas) for the Penix breakdown. I wish he would have broken down a few different games for each of the QB's, both good and bad, and condensed his thoughts into a 1/2 hr showing clips of what he saw in those QB's.
That being said, it is a good breakdown of Maye's "flaws" - the throwing motion (not as "quick" as you'd like to see for a Top 5 QB prospect), the shoddy footwork (doesn't take a dropback and throw off the back heel and takes way too many steps and creates pressure for himself by doing so, ie bad "pocket presence"), the decision-making (not throwing it to where the pressure is coming from), etc - and you can see that for Maye to "get there" in the NFL, it's going to take some work and development.
In this concluding statements at the end he says that Maye is "really raw", needs some time to develop and doens't have one "extraordinary" trait that makes him stand out (ie, Josh Allen's athleticism, or Herbert's "zip" when they were coming out), but one thing he has to remember is that Josh Allen was hardly a "finished product" when he came out as he needed a bunch of development from Brian Daboll over the course of a few seasons to finally "get there" as Top 10 QB.
Maye, like Allen, is a "toolsy" QB prospect and the NFL team that ends up drafting Maye will be betting on him developing those tools. I think Lance Zierlein's NFL.com profile says it best (link):
There is an undeniable energy to Maye’s game that can create momentum or turn chaotic when plays come off-schedule for him. The combination of traits and tape make him a boom/bust prospect who might need patient management and coaching to help shepherd him toward his potential.
