Folks, this is my thread. The rules were simple. How can Minnesota improve the Team IF they go this route.
We already have 72 posts debating the merits of keeping Cousins and/or drafting a QBOTF.
This exercise is about what the Vikings can and can't do in Free Agency and the Draft if Kirk Cousins is the starting QB in '24 & '25.
And I'm 100% not wasting 2 years of a Rookie Contract to sit behind Kirk. Do that in 2025.
So no QBs in the 1st or 2nd, please. I do like Ward or Rattler or Travis in the 4th as guys with much, much higher ceilings than Hall. That's the analytics play. Maybe you hit on that guy ala Dak or Russel and don't need to spend the 1st in 2025 on a QB.
More feedback on these excellent responses: while this is an amazing Tackle Class I'm not trading Darrisaw and creating yet another hole. They'd have to burn #11 or get a 2024 1st that's in the mid-teens. When the Tackle run happens it's gonna be a long one.
Stick at #11. Take Turner or Verse. It's really that simple. The bust factor for Jer'Zhan Newton because of his shortish arms and average explosiveness is not worth that pick.
Doubling down on DL by going with the Miami kid Taylor, whom I really like, or a Texan or Wolverine sounds nice but I think the 2nd Round pick is best used on IOL. The Oregon Center is a monster and a perfect fit for O'Connell's run scheme. But there are good Guard prospects too that can maul.
The 4th is where I'm looking at RB, QB2, WR4 (I think they keep Powell). 5th for ILB and more D-Line assets. Let's not forget about Roy. He has legit upside.
Corner needs to come via FA. Snead is good, yes. But he's a gambler and grabby and is going to get top dollar. Get a lower Tier FA and then see if you can trade a 2025 2nd for a legit CB1. Or even a 1st if you have to. The Scouting Department simply can't identify legit talent at this position. So do what the Rams did.
