Well yeah. Winning a Super Bowl does what for the Wilfs? Oh I have a thought. Makes the team more valuable, worth more. What an idea. A Super Bowl winning team is worth more than one that hasn’t. Compare the value of teams to those that won a Super Bowl and let us know what you find.
OK, I see some teams that have never won a championship (Falcons, Texans, Bengals) in the top 10 of earnings. Bears haven't won in 38 years and Raiders in 40 - are those ancient victories still propping them up? 50 years for the Dolphins now, that old vaunted team and its fans are mostly dead. Why are the mighty Packers with their fanbase constantly proclaiming "Title Town" a breath away from last place in earnings?
I'm not going to paste another table badly formatted, so if valuations are needed, look here: NFL Team Values
It corresponds pretty closely to the earnings with a few more surprises, like the Chiefs, with 2 championships in the past 4 years, in 23rd place for value. A couple more teams with pathetic recent history, the Jets and Commanders, at #7 and #8. Do the Jets have the 7th most championships? No - they play in a big market.
This is mostly about population. It's like owning a McDonald's: if you own the only one in NYC you're going to sell a lot more burgers than the only one in Minneapolis. And that is going to be true even if your bathrooms are dirty and your service is slow.
So if you own an NFL franchise and wish it earned more or was worth more, it probably won't do much to win a championship. (Arguably, winning 6 in a 15 year period might help - if you're already in a large population area like New England.) The only thing that would really help is to move it to a bigger market.
