With the 11th pick, your Minnesota Vikings select...

It (almost) worked out with adding Favre in 2009. How did it work out in 2018 with adding Cousins to a team that was already making the playoffs?

I'm really leery of the "add a QB when the team is completely ready" approach. The assumption that QB is the final piece is definitely debatable. In some cases, you add the right QB and the team improves with him. Look at the Texans this year, adding Stroud. Did you think Nico Collins was a 1200-yard WR before this year? (Hindsight alert, I actually liked Collins and wanted the Vikings to draft him..) Stroud lifted the team around him even though their roster still has weaknesses. I would say the same about Joe Burrow, many other successful rookie QBs.

I do agree with you that there are good QB prospects in most drafts and feel a lot of people are insisting thi is the year. There is some good info (thanks FSUVike ) that the 2025 draft will see a dropoff of college QBs with significant experience, but maybe 2026 will be fine.

But IMO, there is no single formula for when to draft or otherwise add a quarterback. If you draft badly, which the Vikings have for almost a decade, it won't ever work.

You heard it here first. We draft a QB he's going to be worthless. 

So let me ask you guys something. Why do you want a QB so bad this year? We can trade up for a QB in any draft. We have limitless future draft picks. Wouldn't you rather build a contender first, then take a shot at QB? It's better to have a strong team around him. It's better to have a cheap rookie contract. And it's better to know you have a great team first rather than fly by the seat of your pants trying to build the rest of the team while also surrendering picks for a QB. We can draft a guy any time. Hell, we could pick number 1 every year if we really wanted to. And I don't mean from tanking.

They can build a good team first and then trade up in a future draft, or they can try to do everything at once. I build and install things for a living. You don't do a good job by trying to do everything all at once. You do it piece by piece, one thing at a time. They can build up defense this year and next. They have some better offensive pieces albeit I believe they still have work to do there too. Then when they are making the playoffs without the QB then it is time to go out and make the move to get one. The 2009 Vikings did this. It worked out pretty well overall except for the very end. The 49ers and Chiefs have done this as well and again it's worked out well for them too.

The Vikings can get their QB, it just doesn't have to be THIS YEAR RIGHT NOW, it can be whenever they're actually ready. They're not ready yet. I hope most of you can understand that.

The teams who picked guys like Ridder and Coral those types went back to the well.

Waiting around for the next Purdy and one in a million. Generally the best QBs out there come early.

These days team gobbling QBs the good ones high. Pennix is the one I do not like this draft.

It’s been next year for years last year I was told wait for this awesome draft. Y’all must want to suck pay Cousins then we dumb as hell.

Hate to break it to you but not even Andrew Luck could save this team right now. They're probably gonna be giving up 35/game next season if they don't stack for defense
