Yet people hang off every word they say. QB so and so is the steal of the draft. And then that QB ends up being a bust.

It's far less than 50%, this early in the year mockers would be lucky to get 2 picks right. It's a crapshoot and with trades happening, it's impossible to predict. My best season I got 31% of the 1st round picks right, in a normal year I average about 15%. The best of the best will hit around 40-50% every once in a while.

It's not about accuracy, certainly not until your final mock draft. These ones are more about figuring out who is going in the top 32 and figuring out team needs.

0% chance they take a CB #11. But like Dan said right now its useless, early, ppl just projecting team needs. The only mocks that are useful are a handful of guys that are actually plugged in the league, usually there final ones the week of the draft have some actual knowledge in them. We still have combine and free agency to go before the draft

A lot of moving parts yet but as of now would like to trade back to get more picks. Many, many holes here. I would then like a QB with our 1st pick. I would like Penix but would be ok with Nix or McCarthy. I do think McCarthy is the least ready but pick up a bridge QB.

This is kind of where I stand. I think it would be really exciting to move up to say 3 and get Daniels, but with the steep price and our current roster I just dont think its the right move right now. Mccarthy interests me over Penix and Nix, im with you I would trade back and get McCarthy, let Kirk walk and get a bridge.

My gut tells me they are going to try and get Daniels though, Kwesi isnt afraid to commit to a move he likes and I think the Wilfs would love to pair up JJ with young LSU QB. That matters more to them than actually building a team the right way. They are always trying to take the shortcut. Who knows it may not even be possible so we may "luck" out depending on how you look at it. QBs could easily just go 1,2,3 and you never have a chance.

In my experience, mock drafts in January are typically not accurate, especially outside of the top ten. But, it could be a fun experiment in figuring out what people think of the Vikings.

All in all, 17 different players were projected to the Vikings. In the “other” category missed out above, there are three players selected twice: Brock Bowers, TE Georgia; Cooper DeJean, CB Iowa; Nate Wiggins, CB Clemson.

Of the 68 mock drafts surveyed, only three featured a Vikings trade. Two of them featured a trade up for a quarterback – Jayden Daniels from LSU and Michael Penix Jr. from Washington and one featured a trade down. In their trade down, the Vikings moved down two spots to allow the Las Vegas Raiders to select quarterback J.J. McCarthy from Michigan while they themselves selected Dallas Turner, an edge rusher from Alabama.

The results change slightly when only looking at traditional media outlets, like CBS Sports or NFL.com. In those mock drafts, they select Jared Verse, edge rusher from Florida State, 19.4 percent of the time. They select edge rusher Laiatu Latu from 13.9 percent of the time.

After that, defensive tackle Jer’Zhan Newton from Illinois and Penix 11.1 percent of the time and Turner 8.3 percent of the time. Traditional media constituted just under 50 percent of the mock drafts.

Independent media made up the difference, giving the Vikings Latu 23.8 percent of the time, Penix 19.0 percent of the time and Turner 14.3 percent of the time. Fantasy sports outlets, who were a minority of the mock drafts, split between Latu and Turner at 27.3 percent, with one selection each for Verse, cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry from Alabama, edge rusher Chop Robinson from Penn State, linebacker Jeremiah Trotter Jr. from Clemson and DeJean.

If the Vikings are going to get one of the top quarterbacks in April's draft, they will likely have to put together a significant package to move up. According to the Star Tribune's Ben Goessling, Minnesota's front office "understand" what it will cost them.

“If they’re going to take one, it’s going to be someone we love or we’re not doing it," Goessling told KFAN's Paul Allen Tuesday. "If you have to give up a couple first-round picks for future years, I don’t think they’d bat an eye at that.”

They have so many holes because both Rick and Kwesi have whiffed a ton on picks and FAs. The 2022 trade back for Cine was a disaster now that Hamilton is an All Pro and McDuffie kicks butt.

On the flip side, if you can trade back a few spots and get Verse instead of Turner while recuperating that missing 3rd Round Pick in the process why not do it? The line between those two as prospects is very thin.

If the FO is fine with Jer'Zhan Newton's less than ideal length and athleticism (I'm not) then you definitely stay put if he's there at #11 as the next best IDL Prospect will go late 1st at the earliest.

In general there are typically 4-8 True Blue Chip guys like Myles Garrett or Quentin Nelson or Andrew Luck. And then about 10-12 guys with a legit 1st Round Grade. After that there's usually a big group of kids with 2nd Round Grades.

When you're picking outside of the Top 5 it's hard to land a Bosa-type prospect unless there's a run on overvalued QBs.

In this Draft Class there are 2 Blue Chip QBs, 2 Blue Chip OTs, 1 Blue Chip TE and 3 Blue Chip WRs. 8 total. Minnesota literally doesn't need an OT or a WR. The QBs are likely out of reach.

So sit there at #11 and take a guy in Dallas Turner with a near-universal 1st Round Grade that absolutely nobody thinks is a Bosa or Garrett level kid.

Or trade back a few picks and grab Jared Verse or Latu, 2 other Edges with near-universal 1st Round Grades while getting your 3rd Round Pick back.

It's a no-brainer. Except it takes two to tango. And Turner might come off the Board at #8 or #9. And the Saints are definitely a strong candidate to pick an Edge. So you have to be careful about not going back too far and ending up with no Edge and settling for a Position that is not as much of a Need.

Like CB, for example. The CBs currently on the Roster mostly suck. But Wiggins, Arnold & McKinstry are not Blue Chip guys. Another 1st on a non-can't miss CB? Barf.

And this is why I pay no attention to mock drafts or what people say before a draft. Because no has any idea of who is going were. Once you get past the first 3 picks, it's just not worth the time worrying about it. I have better things to do. Like deciding if I want chili dogs, Chili on chips or chili and noodles for dinner tonight. You know, important things, like food.

That’s my worry fsu. An example of this possible situation: we try to trade up to 2 or 3 and it’s too rich for a qb. We stay at 11 and see who is available and all 3 qbs off board already and Dallas turner was already taken. At 11 kwesi is looking for more draft picks in this class and trades back to let’s say back to jags at 17 or bengals at 18 and are looking for verse or latu to drop there while getting that extra third round pick. Then at the drop down pick at 17 or 18 now on clock and both verse and latu have already come off. We are now stuck looking at a cb or newton who I like but don’t think he is a great prospect. Would be much happier taking him in second. And so kam says wtf we keep getting sniped before our pick and they guys we like keep coming off the board. Hardy har I’m going to trade back yet again to last couple picks in first round and take a dt like murohy or sweat with one of the last picks in round one we trade back for. There is a real world where that happens and that is a worst case scenario imo. And with KAM history in draft and getting fleeced in trade backs I am worried. What i can say is if he gets fleeced again in a draft trade back and the guys we end up getting produce squat he won’t be long for a job with the Vikings I am 100% positive on that.
