Correct. A QB is much more important than a WR and can justify much more salary dedicated to them so it’s even more slanted against the notion that that much money to a WR won’t impact the cap.
My issue is that JJ at 35 (if that's what he's asking) is absurd. You can find someone in the 20s that will provide that for a QBOTF, or you can draft one. If JJ wants that kind of money, KAM needs to be looking around. He just let Hunter walk way when the deal was 2/50. From an analytics standpoint, that's a deal worth matching. We didn't. That tells you want KAM thinks of our competitiveness in the next two years. I'd load up on those picks and either use one to draft another WR along with more talent or get a cheaper tier 1 WR. There's plenty of good talent on this team. Plenty.
That’s where I’m at.
Carter and Moss + Reed didn’t get us a SB even with Cunningham throwing them the ball so it’s not just talent. JJ’s stats are nice but I’m not convinced he is better than either Moss or Carter so thinking he can get us a championship by himself is crazy.
If there is a chance to move him, use that to get a franchise QB that can win us at least 1 SB then it’s a no brainer to trade him.
