Well...never a dull moment, never a blow out win, never a blow out loss. But, you win by 24 or you win by 8, another digit gets added to the left hand column either way. You just have more to work on with the latter than the former.
Dobbs was outstanding the first half, better than probably any Cousins performance this year. Unfortunately, football games consist of two halves and he was, at best, way below average in the second half.
And, was part of the reason for that T.J. Hockenson was nowhere to be found? Maybe. However, T.J. balled out in the first half and was Dobbs security blanket, exactly what he needs to be until Jefferson returns.
Both had a good enough half to justify a game ball...as they were the reason the Vikings were up 27-3.
Hunter continues to wreak havoc on opponents pockets, but also making big plays in the running game as well. Wonnum made a few big plays. Bullard with a sack. Metullus with the pressure that led to Blackmon's pick.
Blackmon himself? Made some really nice tackles, was solid in coverage and did come up with the pick after all.
And Jameis Winston. The gift that just keeps on giving. Yeah,he threw two TD passes...either of which probably could have been picked if Byron Murphy weren't in coverage. But, you just knew, when crunch time comes, there is no safer place to be than in a secondary facing Jameis Winston.
I am going Hockenson. He was banged up coming in, he got more banged up throughout, and he produced, over and over again...even averaged over 10 yards a catch. So, yeah T.J. earned his money today for sure.
Broncos, Bears, Bye, Raiders...even though the Vikings can't take any of them for granted, there is no reason this stretch without a loss can't hit two months plus before the Vikings face a serious opponent. Then again, the Bengals did lose today...to a much improved Texans team, but a loss is a loss, much like a win is a win.
