I wouldn't say Daniels should be fired ASAP, but he hasn't given us anything to latch onto. He does need a better kicker and his punt coverage units need play better.
Special teams coaches do not typically coach kickers and punters on technique and their main job is to coach everyone but the kicker/punters. There are 10 other guys out there who need to do their jobs so the kicker/punters can succeed, and that is where they spend most of their time. Most just are not qualified to tell a guy who has been kicking his whole life how to kick the ball which is why some teams have started bringing in consultants to work with their kickers. Even there, most coaches don't want a kicker working on his form in the middle of the season and that is why a lot of teams don't even do consultants.
Long story short, a special teams coach has an impact on kick and punt coverages/returns and that is pretty much it. If your kicker sucks or is great it probably isn't because of him.
