It’s really too bad it had to end this way, gotta be tough for Kirk. To bring us back in the playoff race after that start and go down right as our odds were shifting is brutal. No matter what you wanted us to do the last chunk of years you don’t wish this on anyone…
With that said, it’s time to rebuild. It was time years ago too but now our hand has basically been forced. We will really see how intent his ownership/regime is on competing at the expense of the future with how we handle this situation. There really is no reason to hang on to any player that isn’t part of our future now. We need to start collecting assets and looking ahead to 2025 and beyond.
I'm not so sure rebuilding and losing a lot are mutually exclusive considering the state of the Offense.
Has any Rookie QB ever walked into a scenario with so many high Round picks on Offense? And the only one that isn't performing at a high level is the easily replaceable RG. WR3 could also need an upgrade if KJ leaves and Nailor never stays healthy.
The lack of a running game will hurt but I'm thinking they spend a 3rd on a kid with real juice or sign a better veteran than Mattison or Akers. And hopefully go back Wide Zone.
The Defense is awfully dependent on Flores, though. Gotta get some Draft Capital invested on the D-Line. None of the recent FA signings is inked into '25 so I think there's an opportunity to spend picks and cash on the Defense the next two years. Will it be enough to open the window in '25 is the question.
