I agree, they aren't necessarily. With our offensive talent if we hit on the right QB and Flores keeps the defense rolling we could win some games next season and not have any sort of extreme down season/hardcore tank. KOC needs to improve on the running game for sure to help a rookie and I think a mid round pick is a good idea as well. Otherwise it is a great situation to bring a young QB into.

What I am getting at when I mention looking to the future and rebuilding is moreso the mindset and how you operate in terms of trades/resigning guys. We need to shift from larger resignings of old players, pushing cap down the road, letting players expire or drop off and getting cut without any return etc. to making real efforts to maximize future value. Make sure that cap sheet is cleaned up as much as possible by 2025. Start getting draft picks for guys before they just leave for nothing.

Whether or not we lose more short term doesn't really matter imo. It might happen naturally as we rebuild but if everything goes right you are correct it isn't a necessary aspect or anything.



I guess I just don't believe that you need to make moves based on what your players think/feel. I think listening to the players about running it back was a mistake and waste of time for example. If Hunter isn't part of the future he should be traded even if a few of his friends in the locker room don't want to see it happen. We can't be giving up a potential 1st round pick to appease the feelings of a few players.

The culture I would hope we are building is one where tough choices are made for the betterment of the franchise. The goal should be a super bowl and doing whatever it takes to be in position to win one. If players can't get on board with that type of culture then I am not sure I would even want to keep them around anyways.

I don't think a Hunter trade is coming. While it might be the right move long-term, O'Connell and Flores have to be pushing to keep him and the Wilfs might not approve it.

Bottom line is...Good teams find ways to win. I guess we will see what we got as a team this year.

Yes, this, with a caveat. Hall starts this week, and please, for the love of Todd Bouman, sign a guy to be QB3 over Sean Mannion. I think Hall gets 1-2 games and then maybe a week to week audition--if he does okay, he keeps playing. if not, they go with Mullens. If QB3 becomes a guy like maybe Colt McCoy or Andy Dalton they probably go with him over Mullens, but that's still TBD imo.

Earlier on X I said go with Hall for the rest of the year and see what you have, but if he starts off strong and then fades, and the Vikes are at say 7-6, sitting on a two game losing streak with the playoffs in the balance, it would be difficult to look the rest of the guys in the locker room and stick with a guy who isn't getting it done.

But the flip side to that is that you need to know what you have in Hall. Can he be a future starter, solid/okay backup, or not? The only way to find out is to play him. It's going to be a tough balancing act, though. I don't envy KOC here at all.



No, not this. Not this at all regarding JJ. Keeping Jefferson helps a young QB develop. Jefferson, Addison, and Hockenson give Hall (or whoever if Hall ain't it), the best chance to succeed.

As to Hunter, I would like to see him back if they can agree to a contract. That said, I think he'll want a 4-5 year deal, and based on what we've seen from KAM and contracts, I don't see a Spielman-like contract given out to a guy closing in on 30.
