Well good play always makes it tempting to believe that it will continue. And I can't say with 100% certainty that it wouldn't have...but history very strongly suggests different outcome. There is no real reason to believe this time was different so I don't feel like we were robbed of anything here except another quick exit from the playoffs. And I'd just as soon pass on that lol.

This is the correct take, IMO. Consistently playing at the level he was playing at age 35 seems highly unlikely. Even if he did I'm just not seeing a legit contender given how poorly they run the ball and how Coaching-dependent the Defense is.

The real question now becomes can they lose enough games to get into range to move up for Williams/Maye without mortgaging the future or do they end up in the range where Penix or whomever QB3 is.

And will they sell. I still don't see any good CBs on the Roster and they also need to invest in the D-Line. Which means they need as much draft capital as they can get.

I'm certainly capable of having moments of clarity, and yes we were not likely world beaters. Not since 09 or 98 by my measure. I watched the game with 150 or so Vikings fans yesterday. My Endorphins kicked in big time and they can mess up my mind when dealing with this team!

I'm one of the naysayers who wanted to possibly... REBUILD?...and now it has creeped heavily back into my mindset, after being dragged "kicking & screaming" back into the fold of believing this team has some moxy!

LT Darrisaw - 2 pressures, 1 sack allowed, 60.1 run blocking
LG Risner - 3 pressures, 41.7 run blocking
C Bradbury - 1 pressure allowed, 51.9 run blocking
RG Ingram - 4 pressures allowed, 44.6 run blocking
RT O'Neill - 2 pressures allowed, 49 run blocking

Risner and Ingram had poor outings. Risner simply isn't playing up to Cleveland's standard and is a vastly inferior run blocker, while Ingram is still on pace to lead all guards in pressures and his supposed strength as a run blocker did not pan out today. Darrisaw gave up the strip sack, which was uncharacteristic of him after making Nick Bosa non-existent a week ago. Bradbury continues to not allow pressures anymore.

Oliver got in on 34 snaps but he simply hasn't been pushing the needle. The run game is still awful and they aren't using him in the passing game either, making me wonder why they needed to pay him $21M.

Trishton Jackson and Harry got in 9 and 4 snaps respectively, mostly after Powell exited the game for a bit. O'Connell has no interest in using them and I don't blame him.

Defensively, Ivan Pace played 31% of the snaps, which is still a far cry from playing 50%+ of the snaps the first 5 weeks. Seems like he is now a matchup-dependent player.

Pat Jones II played 39 snaps with 0 pressures and 0 run stops. He is PFF's lowest rated edge defender and has been completely invisible. Meanwhile, Wonnum picked up 4 pressures and 3 run stops along with 2 sacks, but somehow PFF gave him a below average grade. I'll give him credit as he's finally generating some amount of pressure and he got GB's LT benched mid-game (though I want to know why Nijman wasn't starting at LT in the first place).

Mekhi Blackmon (21 snaps) took back the #3 CB role from Booth Jr. (7 snaps) as Flores seems to be giving both of them chances, which is something I appreciate. Blackmon had 3 passes defended and earned a 90.1 PFF grade. Evans and Murphy played 99% of the snaps and got Awful grades. PFF thinks they are among the worst CBs in the league on the season.

Lowry got benched (3 snaps) and deservedly so. Bullard has vastly outplayed him and we're better off giving Roy snaps in his place or running out another edge rusher.

Andre Carter II got into the game and didn't do anything (11 snaps). Roy (12) and Tonga (6) continue to mop up a few snaps per game. Theo Jackson (11) came in as a 4th safety a few times. Thinking into 2024, does he start at safety when Harrison Smith leaves? Does Jay Ward get a shot? Dye cleaned up a few snaps at the end of the game (6).

The OL is still pass blocking pretty well, but the run game is just gross. And now that defenses can stack the box now that the threat of Kirk throwing on them is gone... yeesh. O'Connell has to find a way to figure this out.
