What they're saying...
We gotta guard against a letdown here.
The Vikings are a good team. Their defense can give us trouble and as usual, we have some trouble giving up big plays on defense. we can only play defense 2 out of 3 plays and Thielen and Diggs can eat up the field in chunks.
This game (as all division games) has me uneasy. Mike Zimmer has our number. The Vikings are built to absolutely destroy our oline and kill Aaron Rodgers. We need to see the same production in our run game that we saw last night. Let's also hope that Kevin King is suited back up, because we all know how amazing Demarious Randall and Quintin Rollins's are in coverage. And Thielen and Diggs are among the top 20 recievers in the league right now. Pray for Rodgers life Sunday friends!
I don't feel Zimmer has our number any more than any other Viking coach that ever coached there. He's about 50/50 and seems like much less the thorn that Lovie Smith was in Chicago when Favre still played here.
We're almost certainly going to get Troy Aikman for the second straight week. Hopefully the ALCS has started by then so we don't have to suffer through Joe Buck as well.
Any road game is the division is tough. The Vikings can generate pressure without having to blitz. Rhodes is very good at cb and obviously Harrison Smith is very good too. I think we can get yards on Newman, Waynes, Alexander and sendejo but it won't be like this past week. The Vikings also gave up quite a few rushing yards to Abdullah so maybe we can stayed balanced.
I do feel like the defense can make the vikings one dimensional but the vikings will put up yards through that dimension. The pass rush will be key here.
We have no idea what the vikings offense really is. Their two wins came against two of the four worst defenses in the NFL giving up 5.8 and 6.2 yards per play. One loss was against Detroit who ranks in the middle at 19th with 5.4 yards per play (close to the Packers 5.3). And then one loss to a top end defense pitt (although to be fair so far Pitt has played Jax, Cleveland, Minnesota, the bears and ravens - only Minnesota is in the top 20).
So they haven't been tested except with Pittsburgh and that was with their backup qb so they get a pass.
Should be a tough game.

About MNF:
A lot can change in the second half but that was one of the worst halves of football I have seen at any level. The bears killed themselves with penalties and the turnover. The Vikings were just awful. Cleveland browns bad
The Vikings beat the bears with a decent second half. The offense was better for sure. Keenum dinked and dunked his way down the field for one score and McKinnon broke a long run. The fg at the end was a gift from a rookie qb. The bears got in their own way a lot on offense. So many penalties taking away points or first downs and the two turnovers.
There is no way I see Bradford playing on short rest. It will be interesting to see if diggs is limited with the groin injury. We will be facing Keenum and likely see more out of McKinnon than Murray. The Vikings oline showed a lot of pass protection issues as well which let to the short passing game. Honestly the offense even in the second half looked similar to last year. To adjust to bad pass protection they went to short passes to the te and rbs. This will be a big game for our lbs and safeties.
The Vikings defense gave up yards on the ground for the second straight week. This week was more surprising because it seemed like they could sell out for the run with a rookie. They obviously won't be able to do that next week. I expect Jones and ty if he plays to fund some room. Packers need to not give the vikings points of turnovers like the bears didn't gift wrapping 6 points.

No doubt the Vikings have a good run defense - 3.3 ypa is great - but they have faced just one team inside the top 20 in rushing and that was the bears who ran well. Detroit who outside of their game against the vikings is one the worst running teams also put up good yardage so the opportunities will be there. Honestly if the Packers have 80 to 100 yards from rbs we are in great shape. We just can't be forced to be one dimensional. The last two weeks the Packers running game has shown life it doesn't need to be as good as against Dallas (and it won't) but if it is as good as against the bears that would be great
While I understand this is a road game and the Vikings have a good Defense, this game doesn't scare me at all.
While I didn't actually watch the Monday night game live, the highlights and the play by play was quite amusing. It was like the Bobbsey twins meet Frick and Frack.
While MN is a very beatable opponent it IS a road game and a Division game which propels you statistically in the long term. We need this W to keep up in the standings with the Lions around the corner
I'm feeling very good if we win this one and then play Brees at Lambeau going into a Bye. I sense Daniels will get more confidence with each passing week.
We need an injury free win and we could be getting healthy here soon. This setup for the Lions coming into a healthy GB squad is coming into focus.

Finally a noon game. division games are always very tough. coming off the dal game this min game is setting up like a trap game. hopefully there'll be a sense of urgency considering the injuries, game location, and standings.
There is no way this is a trap game. It is a division game, on the road, against a team that plays us really tough. If we lose it isn't because we were expecting an easy game. It will be because the vikings just beat us. They are solid. I think the Packers are better and should win but last I saw the vikings were being picked to win by some projections
They have a chance to really bury Minnesota in the standings if the win. Minnesota would move to 1-2 in the division with 2 home losses. That would be a big blow. Minnesota needs this game. They still have to travel to gb, Detroit, Atlanta and Carolina.
After watching some of the Bears-Vikings game last night, I would almost prefer Bradford trying to suit up and go on Sunday. When healthy, he is a better QB than Keenum, but he looked less than healthy and very rusty last night.
IMO, the division comes down to the Lions and Packers. Vikings took a big hit with the loss of Cook and Bradford is going to take some time to heal.

The Vikings have a good, albeit not elite, defense.
Offensively, yes, they're pretty bad.
They were counting a great deal on Dalvin Cook. He's gone.
The QB position, the most important position in football, is a mess. Bradford is hurt again, as he has often been throughout his career, and even when healthy he's a middle-of-the-pack QB. Case Keenum is a capable veteran back-up, but he's not taking anyone to the Super Bowl. Bridgewater is set to come off IR soon if the reports are to be believed, and he does some things well, but he's unlikely ever to become an elite QB in this league. Three guys, all offering various degrees of mediocrity.
Wide receivers? There's Stefon Diggs, and Adam Theilen. Not bad, not great. Again, mediocrity.
Kyle Rudolph is a productive TE, and is likely to get a lot of targets. This offense, however, will be hard-pressed to hit 21 points in any given game, against any given defense.
Home field advantage and the absence of Jordy Nelson will help the Vikings on Sunday, but I don't think enough for them to beat the gane's best QB. Give Green Bay the edge in this one.

I sometimes find myself feeling frustrated by what at times appears to be an overly-cautious approach the Packers take with regard to injuries. After seeing how the Vikings handled Bradford, however, I'm appreciative of the fact that McCarthy & Co. err on the side of caution and don't rush hurt players back onto the field before they're ready.
I havn't watched a bunch of vikings games but it seems every time I do I see Keenum bombing long passes out to Diggs. I think the biggest thing we need we need to watch for is getting beat out on those long pass plays cause I don't they stand a chance without some really long plays.
The Vikings have the 2nd best roster in the division, but they're too banged up to be a threat on offense. A backfield of Keenum and Murray/McKinnon doesn't scare me.
It appears that the Packers will be without Burnett and King in secondary this weekend. The Burnett lose is going to test the communication on not only the backend, but the whole defense. Someone new is going to need to wear the headset and call the defenses out, hoping they can keep the mental errors to a mimimum.
Also looks like Bakhtiari is a longshot to play again this weekend. The Packers have survived so far without him, but it is only time before some team is able to exploit that matchup. I don't think the Packers want to be in passing situations with Taylor blocking Griffin one-on-one very often, that is a recipe for disaster.
This game is going to be very difficult for GB, history tells us that winning back-to-back road games against quality opponents is not commonplace in the NFL. The Packers will have their hands full on sunday. Should be a great game for fans to watch, have a feeling it will be another nailbiter.

Vikings defense will play tough, and it's in MIN, but let's be real.
Without Bradford, Diggs, or Cook ... GB should win this game. A loss would be very disappointing.

Could we get any more lucky?
Their starting QB, best RB and best WR.

MN Head Coach Mike Zimmer:
“He does what he does; that has never changed. Don’t let him have the ball. He’s too good at that. If he’s got the ball in his hands you’ve got a chance to lose.”
“I’ve been in the league 20-some years and I can’t remember a guy that does the things this guy does. I think they should trade him.”
Including one postseason victory, Rodgers is 13-6 against Minnesota and has won 11 of the past 14 games. He has completed 68.3 percent of his passes for 4,810 yards, 40 touchdowns and just six interceptions, with a passer rating of 111.7.
In the past nine games of the series, Rodgers has thrown 20 touchdowns and two interceptions.
Time to add to that success Aaron, and another one bites the dust

Minn's defense is giving up 6.21 yards on first downs. That's 5th worst in the nfl.
The biggest argument is that Rodgers/McCarthy tend to struggle vs the Zimmer coached defenses. It historically has been a very poor matchup dating back to Zimmer at Cincinnati.
If we score 21 we win IMO.
If we give up more than 21 to Case Keenum, Jerick McKinnon, Adam Thielen and a bottom 10 OL, well there will be some deserved panic around here haha.

"When McCarthy took over in 2006 the Vikings led the border series, 45-44-1.
Today, it stands 60-51-2 for Green Bay because McCarthy's Packers have gone 16-6-1 against Minnesota. "
The one tie was the game QB'd by Tolzien and Flynn.
