After all, the other reason anyone would consider trading him is that Addison now looks (in one game at least) like another great WR. So a lot of teams are going to try to get a WR with a pick in the middle of round 1. Maybe they won't get one at the level of JJ, but they could get one that provides 90% of his productivity.

If the Vikings trade him, it will be due to him being mad at our contract offer and/or our QB situation. So everyone will know he's ticked and we need to trade him. We won't be getting reparations for the old Herschel trade by parting with Jefferson, sorry.

It's mostly fantasy. Find the team that has draft picks to burn and 40 million to pay JJ per annum. And that he'd be happy to go play for.

I think he's happy here and they will eventually sign him. Not that I think paying a wideout like that makes sense, but I think it's what's going to happen. At least if our g.m. and his 'champagne problem' quote is to be believed.

This is what I am excited about. Our pass protection has been pretty good recently. Once JJ is back opposing defenses have to choose which one to cover. If they focus on both Hoch and Powell/KJ should FEAST.

No I don't think he's going anywhere either, and the team will throw a monster contract at him and he'll stay. The ownership knows that you can sell tickets with a superstar or two on the team as well as with a championship.

Also, most fans' perception of his value is out of line with what Kwesi would get. I mean, just in this thread: "two firsts (one being top 10 and another looking like it will be top 5), two seconds and a good receiver for JJ"...whoa, did Jefferson suddenly start playing QB AND DE?? I don't think you could get that kind of haul for Dan Marino in his prime.

I agree. I think given his age/production and not having a top QB helping him to this point all mean JJ could possibly top those offers but I think it will look closer to those than what was just outlined for the #1 pick at the very least. Maybe I missed sarcasm but that was kinda my point in responding is that despite it only looking like a single pick, the value would actually be great if it were the #1 pick.

If the return is closer to the norm you outline, I prefer to keep JJ and resign him like I was saying. If we were to get the value of say #1 or what it could be traded for it changes my outlook and I would be alright shipping him for that type of haul instead. I agree it's unrealistic that it would happen for the reasons you outline though.

JJ is definitely about the money. Every NFL player is, regardless of what they say about wanting to play with a winner or loving a team or whatever. Tyreek Hill left a SB champion for the money in Miami.

I think a bigger complication could be if Jefferson makes additional demands beyond money, like specific personnel issues. I think he might insist that the team keeps Cousins here: whatever any of us thinks about Kirk, Jefferson has piled up stats and fame with Cousins throwing to him. But if KAM intends to move on from Cousins and is insistent, Jefferson might turn down a deal

Would they trade Jefferson in that case? I'll say the obvious fan perspective: it had better be a fantastic trade package. The Chiefs got a 1st (15th overall), a second the year after, and some later picks for Tyreek Hill; I wouldn't like that deal.

If the Bears were not in our division, I might say trade him for the #1 pick overall (assuming they get it via Carolina). Then we get our pick of the QBs. But Jefferson could vastly improve the play of Justin Fields and that Bears offense, and we would face them twice a year. Untenable...

To be clear, I have no issue paying JJ. And yes, I agree that if he's a diva, bye... it's really more about if he's trying to set the market at WR or he's happy with a nice contract and not necessarily the top paid WR. I want players to want rings too. If everyone's chasing only $$$, the one thing I can guarantee you is that no one will be getting rings.

Addison reminds me of Diggs. A smaller version and I felt that way when I looked at him as a prospect.

I never cared how big or fast a WR was. Those things are nice but how do you break off the stem is all routes looking the same until you cut. WR is easy to evaluate coming out easy . When I played CB those crisp quick route runners were harder for me to stop. I rather check Julio Jones than a quick little guy. I had more trouble with the little water bugs. I will match you on straight line a strength. So I have specific things I look for Addy was my top Wr in this past class

Route running / separation really are #1. The athletic measurements play a factor but that's a WR's bread and butter. Every once in a while one of those unicorns will overcome their deficits (DK Metcalf, Tee Higgins) but then there's the other athletes (Patterson, Tavon Austin) and the big boys who test well (Miles Boykin, Hakeem Butler, Denzel Mims) who don't pan out.

In a nutshell, Addison just seems to get it. Whether it be the separation or route running he gets it at this level (NFL). He looks good and plays well in O'Connell's offense. Let's see if he can help out Jaren Hall on Sunday
