Danielle Hunter signed his 5 year, $72 million contract way before he had to, way before he could have a true understanding of what his market value would be.

For the 1000th time:
If Hunter had underperformed on his contract he wouldn't have seen close to that 72 million because in the NFL teams have the choice to move on from poor contracts, players do not.

If this were the NBA or MLB you would have a leg to stand on, but as it is your concerns over Hunter wanting to maximize his earnings are not rational.

We will be better off without that huge contract. We can get more depth on defense when we aren’t paying him and he was a prototypical stat padder that put up lots of numbers in meaningless games but when games were on the line he wasn’t rising up and making game changing plays like elite players do. This is why over the years we have lost so many close games. Look at crucial plays where we lost on the last play and he will be tied up on a single OL and not doing anything to break free and wreck a play .

I'm sure he wants to sign with a contender and get the bag.

If that's the case, then the Vikings just spent $10m AAV on a rotational defender in Van Ginkel, which doesn't seem very "Kwesi-like"...

I'm wondering if they are trying to work something out with Davenport on another 1-yr, low-cost "prove-it" deal to see if he can cash-in next offseason. A rotational EDGE lineup of Greenard, Van Ginkel, Davenport (if healthy), 2024 rookie, Pat Jones II & Andre Carter II isn't the worst in the world, and even Cashman has some pass-rush chops, too...
