Hunter has been here 9 seasons and is one of the top pass rushers in the league over that span. Despite this his career earnings are less than 100 million. I would say that is a bargain even with considering the two lost seasons. We got more than what we paid for with him overall.
I won't cry for any of these athletes making millions either but at least he has produced like he was supposed to when healthy. We got the value expected and more when he played, a truly elite edge. Much different than our other big time pending FA right now...
For the 1000th time:
Danielle Hunter signed his 5 year, $72 million contract way before he had to, way before he could have a true understanding of what his market value would be.
If Hunter had underperformed on his contract he wouldn't have seen close to that 72 million because in the NFL teams have the choice to move on from poor contracts, players do not.
If this were the NBA or MLB you would have a leg to stand on, but as it is your concerns over Hunter wanting to maximize his earnings are not rational.
