There are so many problems on this year's Bears team that it's like peeling an onion. Lots of layers and it makes you cry.

The team has 30 new players on the roster this year. We also (as of last year) have a rookie GM, HC, OC (and before he quit we had a rookie DC). It is a bad coaching staff and pitiful schemes.

There are no game changer talents on the entire roster. Nothing. Second-tier talent at best.

The offense scheme looks so predictable and primitive. It does not look like an NFL-level scheme at all. The Bears hired Luke Getsy from Green Bay thinking he knew something about offense. He doesn't. He was a QB coach for Aaron Rodgers. LOL, he probably was his gopher running errands for coffee or things like that. Not doing any coaching.

The defense scheme is the old Lovie Smith defense but without the talent Lovie had when he was here. That defense is 32nd in the NFL in a number of categories right now. So we have pitiful talent and pitiful schemes - and on top of that, injuries have killed us too. *hammer*

Fields looks like a guy who could have been decent if a team had drafted him, who had talented coaching and supporting talent on the O. Instead I think the Bears ruined him. It's what the Bears do to QBs. Right now he's pretty screwed up after 3 years on a team that ruins QBs. Horrific O coaches, schemes, supporting talent - pitiful offensive lines. Fields is seeing ghosts everywhere now. He freezes out there like a lawn statue now... holds the ball forever, not seeing open receivers. He's not even running now like we've seen him do so well in the past. He just freezes mentally. He's ruined.

I think Poles whiffed on Eberflus and this coaching staff will be swept out at the end of the season. Bears will draft a QB next year. If they could hit on a good coach (hey, even the blind squirrel occasionally finds the acorn) then we can start over. So, when you guys are frustrated with the Vikings, just tell yourself "at least we're not the Bears" right? LOL.

Maybe they should talk Tom Brady out of retirement. That would fix everything.

And I know that. I also know that there is no such thing as a sure thing in the draft. Period. Know one knows how a player will play in the NFL from whatever they do in college. A crapshoot. You just have a better chance of hitting the target in the 1st round. What, 50% maybe. I'm sure they have done studies on it.

Here is the Bears' problem in a nutshell. All the draft picks and Cap money can't help a team that fails to spend that capital wisely - and then (also) can't coach that talent well. It's like giving monkeys zillions of dollars and expecting them to be successful business people - LOL, you are just screwed if you have monkeys running the franchise.

Thursday's game will be interesting. If the Lions do beat the Packers to go 3-1 (after beating the Chiefs earlier) then I think that will be the "changing of the guard" and the Lions are the new alpha-dog of the NFCN. Granted it's early in the 2023 season. But they do look like a solid all-around team to me.

Right now, to me, the Vikings look night-and-day better than the Bears.

Pace pretty much had everything set up for success...had a first round QB on a rookie deal, with a ton of potential if he got the right coaching, and he hired a coach with a defensive background who hired an OC that by all accounts is a doofus. Then he clears 100 mil in cap space and, well:

Other than Fields, he didn't have anyone else to really build around in terms of core guys, so he had essentially a blank slate. But he's done nothing but finger paint, and he's done nothing to show that he is going to turn those draft picks into quality football players.

Give me the Vikings situation.

The good news is, it is looking like there is a good chance the Bears will end up with the best QB in a great QB class as well as the best non-QB, which will probably be Harrison Jr. Not even a bad GM can screw that up. You also have the second most cap in an off season where two elite pass rushers will be hitting free agency. No guarantees they want to go to Chicago, but at least you have a chance at them.

The first best thing the two teams could do is swap QBs to see if the Bears are better with an experienced QB and the Vikings can see is a young, mobile franchise QB can fix every other issue on the team. That would be a nice experiment to try

It poses a good question, if you told me we were to pick 1&2 in the 2024 NFL draft I would 100% take us. But the likelihood is that the bears are going to have the #1 pick and possibly another very high pick with the panthers, while well still be picking like 12 or later. So lets say thats Caleb and Marvin Harrison Jr, thats a very good core to start with for the bears. I think theyll need a new HC so depends on that too. But right now id still go with the Vikings.
