Case "I have TWO good knees" Keenum

Franchise tag is close to 30M. You really shouldn't want to have Case Keenum making 30M unless you are a Packers fan.

I highly doubt that Case could be resigned for one year, $15M.  Once you get into multiyear contracts with guaranteed money, the math all changes.  The franchise tag for QBs in 2017 is $21.3M.

$21.3M is a large one year cap hit, but it is exactly that.  One year and done.  That's a good deal for a team who really needs to retain a player but doesn't want to commit to a player as the long term plan.  Sound familiar?  Derek Carr's cap number for 2017 was only $15M, but that balloons to $25M in 2018 and it took $40M guarantees to extend him.  That's okay, because at the time he looked like the long term franchise QB.  Is Carr better than Keenum?  Historically, yes!  That said, he is currently performing worse than Case (88.2 rating vs. 93.7 for case) and the Raiders are losing while the Vikings are winning.  There is an argument to tag Case if he continues to play at his current level, and we continue to see nothing from Sam and Teddy.  Tagging him would only mean we are guaranteed to retain him for next year and that we're committing an inflation-adjusted $21.3M in guaranteed money.  In this scenario, if he retained the starting job and continued to perform into 2018, then we could more intelligently consider long term options with either him or anybody else who emerges on our roster (i.e. Teddy).

QBs get more expensive every year in the NFL, but everybody needs one and you have to pay current market price to get or retain one.  If Case could be extended for $15M, we would probably be doing that right now.

Is it that high for a 1st time QB? I was thinking is was under 20M. Either way, as long as there is cap room, I think they'd be smart to do it if Casey keeps playing at this level.

I don't get you Teddy supporters and your double standards. You all seem to share this strange opinion that Case has reached his ceiling in the potential department, based on nothing, but you seem to believe Teddy still has a ton of remaining potential, and again based on nothing. How do you reconcile this apparent contradiction? Especially when Case is currently having a better season than Teddy ever has and continues to show signs of improvement which Teddy never has. Teddy looked the exact same in his 29th start as he did in his 1st. What criteria are you using to dismiss Case as a potential long term starter for this franchise but not Teddy? Magic 8 ball? Crystal ball? Psychic? Feelings? Because it makes no sense to those of us living in reality land. You don't know what Teddy will become, but you do know what Case will become? How?

And how disappointed are you going to be if Case does lead us to a Super Bowl? Does he have to win a Super Bowl to vault himself past medicore Teddy in your eyes or what's it going to take?

Because Case and his agent will laugh at 3/$45M.  They'll suggest calling the Bears if the Vikings want a $15M QB, because Glennon is likely available. 

They have no say in the $21.3M.

I would guess the same reason the Bradford supporters knew Teddy had reached his ceiling already after two seasons?
