Like Nemy said earlier, if he has a couple bad games does that mean he's broken and we gotta move on? Will he ever be allowed to have a bad game or 2? He's won 3 impressive starts in a row vs playoff caliber teams, and 2 were on the road.

agreed but i don't feel i have been saying that. i think that facing these two teams, in december, in their respective houses with playoff seeding on the line, will clinch it for me....one way or the other.

if he had laid an egg against the skins and rams i wouldn't have 'converted'....i'm glad he didn't. i was on the fence....but now i'm believing that he isn't just a cinderella story. maybe he is...but i'm betting against it. i think he's the real deal....at least for this team as is.

so, it's in writing.....i've consumed the kool-aid and am willing to feel the disappoint if it comes to that.

and to be extra clear on the make or break him comment: i mean in terms of re-upping the dude. i think he's earned a contract somewhere, so in that sense he's 'made'....but i'll be pissed if he continues his play in atlanta and carolina and he's not offered a solid contract in minny.

Origin: It is a derivative of Jeff Fisher, the former NFL coach.

After 22 seasons as an NFL head coach, five leading the Los Angeles Rams, Jeff Fisher and his staff were fired last season. Like many failed staffs, Fisher’s crew probably convinced themselves that they would have succeeded if they had only found a decent quarterback. By bubble-wrapping their egos in that theory, most coaches enjoy peace of mind for many years. But poor Fisher wasn’t even afforded a year of self-delusion because Jared Goff and Case Keenum became very good NFL quarterbacks almost immediately after being freed from his tutelage.

This season, Goff is 8-3 as the Rams’ starter under the guidance of 31-year-old rookie head coach Sean McVay. Goff was 0-7 a season ago. Keenum ended up in Minnesota with the Vikings, where he assumed the starting role after Sam Bradford, another former Fisher quarterback, got hurt. Keenum has gone 7-2 for his new team. He went 4-5 with Fisher in 2016. But their records aren’t the only evidence of improvement. With a Total QBR of 18.3 last season, rookie Goff was being called the worst quarterback of all time. So far this season, his QBR is 55.2. That places him right at the league average, which is promising for a player in his second season, his first as a Week 1 starter. At the beginning of last season, Goff was deemed unfit to even be a backup by Fisher and crew. He was third on the depth chart.

All quarterbacks should improve from their first season to their second. The average QBR increase from year one to year two is +5.6. But Goff’s QBR increase of 36.9 is enormous. If he sustains his current QBR, it will be the largest increase from first to second season since the stat has been kept. However, it might not be the biggest year-to-year QBR increase regardless of level of experience. That distinction could go to Keenum, Fisher’s other 2016 quarterback. If Keenum can sustain his 77.2 QBR (second-best in the league), he will have increased his QBR by nearly 40. The Vikings are Keenum’s third team in his five-year career. The first two seasons he spent in Houston, where his QBR was 48.6 and 39.3. Then he went to Fisher’s Rams for a couple of seasons, where he had the two lowest QBRs of his career (34.8 and 37.5).

Exact same opinion here. I did not expect us to go 3-0 over the last three games against three legitimate teams. Keenum has proved himself, the reigns are his for the rest of the season.

One of football’s most intuitive concepts has been dramatically dialed up this season. For the Vikings, Rams, and Eagles—and each of their breakout quarterbacks—it’s made all the difference.

Among quarterbacks who’ve played at least 75 percent of their team’s snaps this fall, Keenum leads the NFL in percentage of dropbacks to include play-action (28.7 percent), according to Pro Football Focus. Goff is second at 27.8 percent, and Wentz is fourth at 27.5. Last year, the Falcons’ Matt Ryan was the only passer with a similar percentage (27.6).

It’s no coincidence that some of the league’s most overachieving offenses have heavily relied on play-action. The tactic has long been used to make quarterbacks’ lives easier, and this season, a handful of staffs have been willing to use it more often. The benefits of this approach, and the flaws with previous thinking surrounding play-action’s limitations, have been plain to see.

The difference between Keenum’s numbers with and without play-action this year is jarring. When using a play fake, he is completing 70.2 percent of his passes and averaging 9.9 yards per attempt to go with a 119.7 passer rating, the second-best mark among quarterbacks who’ve taken at least 75 percent of their team’s dropbacks, per Pro Football Focus. On traditional passes, Keenum’s completion percentage drops to 64.4 percent with an average of 6.5 yards per attempt and an 86.9 passer rating. The types of throws above are a huge reason.

it helps tremendously to have a line that can run block. the play action wouldn't be a factor if this team was not so effective running the ball.

it will be sad to watch shurmur go ala tomlin...if that's what happens this offseason.

His numbers look better than his play IMO, but he played a tough road game and came out the winner. It's another plus performance in his belt.

Nobody plays at an All-Pro level for 16 games. Case gave the team exactly what they needed today, a steady hand, no turnovers, perfect in the second half when the game was on the line! I think we have to recognize that the line didn't have as much success early as they have been, and it's not as though receivers were running wide open all day long.

The Falcons are a very very good team that has been playing at the top of their game of late, they need every win they can get in a division with Carolina and New Orleans and probably the best team the Vikes have played this season! Not every great game comes with a great stat sheet, IMO that was as good a game as Case has played!

I agree, I'm a bit curious how we struggled so much to get open against a team missing it's top two CBs. It seemed like there were a lot of plays today where Keenum sat back, rolled around, and looked for guys for a LONG time today. Against a banged up secondary we should have been open a lot more and a lot sooner.

I put a lot of the "alright" performance on that. (Which, to be clear, is more on his receivers)

It was pretty shocking to see just a handful of catches for Diggs and Thielen when guys like CJ Goodwin and Blidi Wreh-Wilson were covering them, but I think they did a great job in coverage. Keenum had a couple plays where he had tons of time and nobody got open, so kudos to the Atlanta defense for having their backup defenders play so well.
