Record Deal on the Table for JJ?

Um that was exactly my point. So see we need both and we have the ultimate weapon. So you answer the question for me. If you have a QB they want weapons and those weapons want money. That is how it goes you have to pay great players. We have half of it down actually more. A young QB Will complete us for the long haul. I have seen teams win it the other way around with just a okay QB. Yet I can’t think of a team who won it and stay consistent with a QB and nobody else. We need it all and JJ will give any young QB a real chance we gotta keep him.

We don't have to keep him. It would be nice if we could. I want us to keep him. Kirk and JJ need to realize they need each other and go to management with a package deal where the Vikings can afford to keep both. I don't think anybody has suggested that we shouldn't pay JJ. Have you seen anybody who said that. What people are saying is we need to keep JJ at a price that makes sense. Hopefully that is what JJ wants as well. If you want to build something great you need a player who thinks like Brady. If I take a bit less the team can surround me with better players and I will continue to have success. 

If the deal he wants doesn't make sense to the long term future of this club then they're right not to give it to him.

This isn't just about keeping Justin Jefferson. This is about keeping him in a way that gives you a better chance to win a super bowl. If the deal doesn't accomplish that for the TEAM then what's the point?

Here's something to chew on. Whatever you might have saved on JJ this year would be lost to Kirk because keeping JJ on a record deal and not being able to trade him without a catastrophic cap hit means you essentially put yourself in a corner with having to maintain a good QB and what's more likely? Kirk? Jaren Hall? Some other rookie that you get with a mid first? Some other rookie you get by trading up and handing over several years of drafts because another team knows you're desperate? Trading for some other establish player?

The deal has to make sense for this franchise right now, next year, two years from now, three years from now and so on.

Kwesi's predecessors handed out extensions like candy. Half the mess that he's now cleaning up was from having to deal with a bunch of guys who's comp was so far above market value that he had to release them or convince them to take major pay cuts.

You have to be willing to draw a line and he did. Contrary to popular belief, the vikings still have leverage.

If extending JJ is the primary goal, why wait to do it until next season when the Vikings have less leverage, JJ is more likely to hold out and the most likely outcome is JJ wanting more in a contract, not less?

I know just as much as you about the negotiations right? Or are you secretly his agent? His job is to do these things early and forecast the future. He should have started talking to JJ in March. Yet slow mo does slow thangs. Say man you don’t know me I know a whole lot more about football than you think. I not just some computer geek saying whatever. I would take JJ over them combined. Another thing guess what if you hit on the picks as soon as they hit their prime they want money to. So we either going to pay guys or be a baseball farm team.
