So how does the Vikings defense the last two years compare to the defense of every SB winning team? Has any team win a SB with a defense worse than we had the last 2 years?
The 2011 Packers take the cake though. They went 15-1 with the 1702nd overall defense (1786th passing). And that same year the 13-3 Patriots went to the Super Bowl with the 1763rd overall defense (1791st passing). So yeah, what's KOC and Cousins excuse?
Even in the traditional yards system, the 2011 Packers/Patriots finished with the worst and 2nd worst overall and pass defenses in the entire NFL that year. Shhh nobody tell Raptorman The Patriots offense was 34th (again out of 1805 teams), and the Packers 286th. So even when your defense is a sieve, the offense is still allowed to be championship caliber. The 2022 Vikings offense settled for 535th best.
Honorable mention to the 1991 Bills and 2003 Chiefs as the only other 13+ win teams to finish with a worse defense than the 2022 Vikings. The Bills also making it to the Super Bowl. The Chiefs being the only other fraudulent one-and-done team, losing to Peyton Manning and the 12-4 Colts, not 9-7 Danny Dimes. That Chiefs team had an offense though. 482 points, 161st overall SMARTASS. Priest Holmes was a beast with his 27 rushing TD's. I remember the 8-6 Vikings pulling off the upset though, beating them 45-20.
