Cousins will be controversial, unpopular, and underrated with many until he leads his team on a playoff run. He may never take the Vikings on such a run. Could he have done it last year on the 49ers?
Right now, Mahomes is in a class of his own with 2 SB wins, 3 SB appearances, and 4 AFCCG appearances in 4 years. Burrow is great and Rodgers is a Hall of Famer with MVPs and a SB win.
So while Cousins is not elite, he is good and he is durable. He wins close games and is good in the 4th Quarter. It is why I have Cousins as underrated.
It would be very interesting to see how the Vikings do with good pass protection and a good running game. And if Addison gets open and makes contested catches, maybe the WR group is more effective than in 2022. That would make the offense better than expected. And if the Defense surprises with its scheme, maybe the Vikings exceed my low expectations for the year. (7-9 wins) Exceeding expectations to me means winning the division and winning two or more playoff games.
As always, injuries are a huge factor.
I've been critical of the KO offense and in particular the running game, and yet I have great respect for KO as a Head Coach and as a guy who does not make excuses when he falls short. He is addressing the running game and seems to be growing the Offense to fit his players and to beat NFL defenses. If there is a reason to think that the Vikings may one day win a Super Bowl, a great Head Coach makes a difference with great schemes and game plans and players that believe in the team. He is not great yet, but I think he could become a great Head Coach.
