With Cook gone, and Bradford's day to day injury, some fans are ready to throw in the towel. I say hold those towels for now. We're only 2-2 and still have room and time to improve.
Yes, Cook is gone, but now we go to Murray. Let's not forget that Murray was the original plan all long before Cook was even drafted. Not saying that Cook would or wouldn't have beaten Murray for the starters job if they both were healthy, but we don't know. All we know is that Murray never had a good chance to compete for the starting job at training camp because he was injured all offseason. Now we can all assume he won't be as great as Cook has been these past few weeks but he fits the scheme that Shurmur is running. You can tell by the few snaps he did take, he was playing with very little confidence. Much like how Peterson is playing in New Orleans because he's barely getting touches vs previous years when they were both featured backs for their team. But I think Murray is still a good fit, his ceiling is pretty much up from here.
In case we need to sign a RB. The Vikings should really take a look at DeAngelo Williams. He's the closest thing to Cook that we're going to get. They are practically the same type of player. Think of Williams as a much older slightly regressed version of Cook. But he is better option than Peterson, simply because Peterson will not fit with what we're trying to run on offense.
We got Michael Floyd coming back. I believe he's going to make a difference. He may not beat out Diggs or Thielen but he will be a great option at #3 since Treadwell hasn't been doing sh*t.
But we didn't lose to the Lions because we lost Cook and didn't have Bradford. The offense was still moving the ball but costly turnovers killed any chances we had to win. But there's still hope. Enough of this, next year talk. For once the Vikings seem to have had created enough depth on offense to keep us in contention even if we lose a couple of key players.
