How do you grade the Vikings' 2023 draft?

I was alol about rush for our corner pick. Former wr and has hands like one. Very athletic. He may not be as in your face and physical as Blackmon, but we need a db who can turn the ball over.

I wanted Rush too. Wonder if injury history scared them away

I want to change my grade (yep, I'm the only do-over vote) to a B+. I still stand that I don't think the Vikings drafted to the strengths of the draft (CB, WR, RB) but as many have pointed out, it wasn't very deep (ILB, DL, IOL) for areas of need. However, I voted before the UDFA signings and that changed things a bunch for me thanks to earlier posts by Funky posting the Krauser and Baker tweets. This is a better way to look at this year's draft.

Not too shabby in value. NOW, if you add in NT Calvin Avery and IOL Alan Ali it gets a whole lot better for the trenches. Uncle had a nice intro about Alan Ali. He is a VERSATILE OL who mainly played OC last year for TCU. I personally like the NT from Illinois, Calvin Avery. Sure, he's a long shot but dang those previously shared videos (UDFA thread) of him rag-dolling JSM and Tippman were impressive. It's interesting to see Illinois having such a tough defense last year and somehow only 3 DB's (Witherspoon, Brown, and Martin) get credit and get drafted by the end of day 2. Avery might be a 1 trick pony at NT, buy that's one strong baby Clydesdale. That said, I knew nothing of these 2 guys before the draft, but after a little digging I feel a bit better about how Kwesi & Co. handled the trenches with such little capital.

Yeah McBride isn't a guy with blazing speed, but he will punish defenders and rarely does the first tackler bring him down. He's a piece to the puzzle to improve the run game and make things difficult for opposing DCs if they want to go with a light box.

That's the thing though. In the highlight videos I seen I seen some nice moves and definitely some great balance but punishing runner? Seen alot more poor angles and weak arm tackling I guess counts as "after contact".  Spinning around and stringing it along to the outside might not work as well in the NFL. Yeah agree adding him as a late pick was a good idea to mix in. If we cut Cook we are a by committee team likely. 
I read your comment on Blackmon yeah OK maybe a coachable guy Flores wanted. I had the immediate feeling as I did with a different 3rd round pick Surrat. Ok maybe they see him as a role filler but the size thing makes you wonder when you really don't know much else about a guy.


Edit: I went back and found the video of McBride vs LSU and think I see the physicality you talk about. Lots of straight ahead power running. Most of his other highlights vids I saw were trying to show his athletic prowess and they just showed me the bad defenses he was playing against. 

Curious of what? Im sure he had a say and influence on all those defensive picks. Thats one of the reasons he is here I would assume. 

That's kind of the point, there is additional input on the defensive draft picks. Everyone is talking about KAM and KOC but I just wanted to add Flores. I want to hear his thoughts and see how his plan works. He is highly motivated to get another shot at coaching, this gig and his showing will help that. The defense can only go up and it will be interesting to see what happens
