But for a 13-win team, with the best culture and facilities in the biz, no one seems too eager to make a sacrifice to stick around with the team they've always known and wanted to retire with. It is interesting. If Smith is released, wave the red flag.

Not sure it's quite that easy. We don't know how much of a pay cut these guys are being asked to make. Every one of them would've seen this coming, too. Every one of them would have known this hard conversation would need to happen, they knew it the day they signed it. But it's not easy to wrap your head around being told you have to take millions of dollars less to stay with the team.

Not a single one of us would stay with a company that cut our pay a single dollar, but we expect these guys to remain loyal when told they have to give up millions to stay?

Yeah, ideally Zimmer & Rick don't get extended after 2019, and then the roster gets nuked after 2020... we'd be in better shape now, as long as we had a GM who could draft well. Winning that one playoff game against the Saints has set us back a bit.

The win itself wasn't the setback. Many of us recognized the situation for what it was at the time and argued for change. The win was a fluke and the outcome the next week at San Fran was the real gauge of that regime's ceiling.

Team ownership couldn't recognize the situation for what it was (I know, shocking) and doubled down on several more years of spinning their wheels.

She's not a player, so it's not players criticizing, it's Adam's dipstick wife.

As for best culture and facilities, why do you think I raked that nonsense over the coals? This game is all about the dough. And Theilen has collected 63 frickin million bucks here in purple kumbaya land, where his wife who lives like a rich privileged queen gets to b*tch about how unfair their life is. If it's just the wife talking and she's talking football it means absolutely zilch UNLESS the assumption is that Adam is speaking thru his wife.

Virtually every player like this getting released falls into the same category- it's not that they no longer have value to their team, it's that their value is no longer as high as they THINK it should be................and since contracts in pro sports are never designed to decline as a player gets older (usually the other way around), well this is what happens...

It's pretty safe to assume they both feel the same way, especially since he's alluded to the same frustrations. Again, he just handled it more professionally and less emotionally. I don't think Ms. Thielen understands the NFL business. This is a league where the Patriots didn't want to give Brady a long term extension, the 49ers shipped Montana to the Chiefs, etc. It's a cut throat business. I feel like professional athletes' spouses always make things awkward and worse for their husband's when they do things like this lol.

Kinda tells us how this crew values a 3rd target. I get that they want Adam to get more targets and show his worth but how can they not understand it doesn't make financial sense when they have another option for that 3rd target who has a 3m cap hit? There are better ways to go about expressing your frustration then sounding like an entitled brat on IG.
