Wowzer. If it somehow fell this way I'd be torn between Gonzalez, who's great but definitely played more Zone than Man, though he's plenty capable of both, and Anthony Richardson.
The Reality is that both will be long gone. In that case I'm All In on Nolan Smith. It hurts to leave JMS on the Board knowing full well that he has a shorter road to instant contribution than any Edge you could select at #23, but you can still get a good Center Prospect on Day 2.
Now, if Richardson does fall and Kwesi, Kevin and Wes select him I will support them and the kid 100%. Shoot, if they think they can develop him and he's at 16 you have to move up. His ceiling is above any other QB in this Class and is very much in the Josh Allen neighborhood.
We would know Kirk's last year is this year. And 2024 would be the beginning of the next window. 2023 & 2024 Drafts will be Defense heavy, even with losing some capital to move up to get Anthony. And 2024 FA will see a cap with no Kirk, Thielen, Smith, etc. They could really target 2-3 positions after seeing 2023 and snag whatever they're missing, hopefully in the Trenches.
Back to Reality. I truly see Hunter-esque potential with Nolan Smith. And he's already better against the run than any Edge besides Hunter on the Team right now. He'd likely rotate with Z and then rush on 3rd downs while Z kicks inside.
With that elite speed and hops he'd also be very good in Flores mug looks in terms of blitz feints and then dropping into a Zone to confuse the QB. My #1 Draft Crush right now by a mile.
