Extend Cousins or ... ?

Why do you insist on talking in totals instead of percentages that factor in how often each QB has had to overcome a certain amount of points? Because the percentages completely refute your point?



It was actually score more than 30 for Brady and Mahomes it is score more than 35. For Cousins he wins more than he loses with up to 25 points scored against him. Which isn't bad, but it is worse than any current starter who has been to a Super Bowl and every other QB worse than him was either benched or looked incompetent this year. Wait, maybe that is bad.

Good news is that he did finally get a win when his team gave up 35+ this season, first of his career. Bad news is, he was responsible for 7 of those 36 points scored by the Colts.

Whoa, so you realize it, but defend him to the death anyway? But you're right, 4 playoff appearances in 5 years, 3 straight division titles, and 4 playoff wins, is practically the same as 2 playoff appearances in 8 years, 2 division titles, and 1 playoff win. I can't believe Cousins is so disrespected.

You and your defenses . But yeah, that's what it comes down to. It's just a coincidence all these same QB's keep ending up with all the best defenses dragging their sorry asses deep into the playoffs year after year, while poor Kirko keeps getting stuck with all these sh*tty defenses, except that time he went 8-7-1 with a NFCC caliber roster and top 5 defense.

So we're just going to throw his rookie year in there, when he was drafted by a dumpster fire Bengals team, and ignore the vast improvement he's made and how he turned that dumpster fire into a Super Bowl contender? While Kirk inherited a 13-3 team in his 6th year and immediately turned them into a dumpster fire. I mean yeah you're right, when you look at the career trajectory of Cousins and Burrow side by side, you can't tell the difference. One is steep climb upward and the other is a flatline.

Maybe Kirk is like the O'Connell's offense, gonna hit his peak any day now ... yep, any day. Maybe by the time he's 38 and on his 8th extension with the Vikings, the next GM/HC will figure out how to get Kirk and his bloated contract to the divisional round xD. Lets cross our fingers.

Exactly, we're not winning anyway, might as well get cheaper at QB and spend the money elsewhere. That's how we got just as far with Ponder, Teddy, and Tjack. Again, WTF are we paying for? The guy is getting paid "I'm good enough to elevate the team around me" money, while needing to be elevated himself.

the problem is, you're assuming I was ever a big Cousins backer...I've not been....what I've BEEN is a fan who's looked at the situation like a businessman....as in not throwing away millions in dead cap without a solid plan to work thru that and come away with a better option

When we signed him initially, I thought I liked it, but also thought it might be a better idea to stick with Keenum and draft Lamar Jackson. We didn't know then what Lamar would become and we don't know now whether we'd just be sour on Lamar with no more playoff wins had we drafted him. When we extended Kirk the first time, I'd have preferred we didn't but businesswise it made sense. When we extended him this last time, there really wasn't a better option. Now, it makes the most sense to me to play out this last year without extending him.

You can call that backing him or backing mediocrity, but that's my version of being a fan- if my team makes a big decision I don't like, I understand they have more facts than I do and try to look at things from a business standpoint. After all, I've been in some form of business mgmt my entire career.

Nothing about anyone else.  All about Burrows.  HE did it all by himself.  And don't go bringing up defensive players.  We all know that that defense has nothing to to with teams winning.  After all, it's been "debunked", remember?
