I generally agree. That assumes we can get more than a 2025 3rd for him in a trade obviously, which I think is pretty doable, but a fair point. The real problem is then who do you roll with and what's the succession plan? We have no capital to draft with or move around... and I actually do believe ownership when they say they want to be competitive... so my gut feel is that they plan on having Kirk play it out.

At this point who cares? Fans are acting like a HOF replacement is a guarantee. Just roll with Mullens until the new guy is ready.

We can probably get Mond back too.

Yup, that's why I think there's 0% chance to retires this year. If he waits a year, he'll get the year to himself once he's voted in.

These contracts have definitely reached the level of insanity. But it does appear as though there is some pushback to bring them back to earth. Lamar Jackson is on the receiving end of this. He probably should have signed a deal last year or took what Baltimore offered because I don’t think anyone is giving him a fully guaranteed contract that resets the market.

I'm not so certain Brady is done... I've predicted that already myself, but that's a different issue.

yeah, and we rip on the Cousins contract... be glad you aren't a Browns fan thinking you were just a QB a way with that contract and a gravitational pull to .500.

Then you get guys like JJWatt talking like there's some conspiracy going on because some teams immediately said they were 'out' on Lamar.....when reality is a LOT of teams are out on Lamar for one distinct reason- nobody wants to give ANYbody what the Browns gave Watson. A 5/250 deal? Possibly...fully guaranteed? No thank you. But...it only takes 1 team.

Turns the Thielen thing into a wash, one year we have to pay the piper, over 28 million in dead cap related to Cousins, figure he's going to be gone. I don't know if this is better or worse than riding the contract out but at least we didn't extend him to like 5 years for a nominal 175-200 million or something!

and we'll eventually eat it. The only reason to do an extension is to lock in the future $$$. I'm guessing he wants $$$$$$ and we are offering $$$$. So here we are.

Does anyone have the FACTS of the Cousins 'extension'? What is guarentueed to the greedy SOB? Is he gone in a year? Im clueless.
