I think that SB win, more than any of the other 6, cemented him as the GOAT.

Tampa already had a really good defense, not to mention some other weapons... and Brady did some recruiting too, getting Gronk to join him. So I'm not sure that point holds. They were missing a QB and had everything else that they needed. If anything, it tells me that Brady knows how to pick a good team. When he comes out of retirement, he's not going to pick a scrub team. He's going to pick a team with a great defense, good weapons around him, and a solid line. My gut feel is SF would be his top choice, assuming they don't think he's cooked, but there are a few teams that could fit that description.

Now- you can call him greedy, money hungry or whatever but the fact is that the Jets offered him more money to play for them but he chose to come here and play for less. Obviously it was still a big contract but he was the best FA available at that time and because of that he set the market. That’s free market capitalism.

Compare the number of threads discussing Kirk being the problem to the number of threads addressing other issues with the team and get back to us.

The reports at the time also said that they were pretty far apart in contract talks, they likely weren't willing to give him a 100% guaranteed deal like the Vikings offered. But yes, part of it was that he wanted out of Washington.

What we saw (well, what most of us saw) with the 2020 Buccaneers is an elite quarterback's ability to lift an entire team -- not only via his performance on the field, but via leadership. That understated quality of leadership makes a difference that many Internet forum experts just can't comprehend. And if there's one thing that Cousins is not, it's a leader.

The rumor going around prior to him signing with the Vikings was that he wanted a fully guaranteed deal, and Washington wouldn't come close to that. At the time, those rumors were scoffed at because no player got that kind deal, not even Tom Brady or Peyton Manning. Then he enters free agency and only considers fully guaranteed deals proving those rumors to be true.

Now, there is no guarantee that he would have taken a fully guaranteed deal even if Washington had offered him one, but there is also 0 evidence he wouldn't have. All we know is that he wanted a fully guaranteed contract and Washington didn't want to give him that.

There are many more threads talking about issues on defense, whether that be the DC, secondary or other players on the D.

There are draft threads and off season plans that do discuss Kirk, but mostly his salary cap hit and how to deal with it because it is by far the largest on the team.

He is talked about more than any other player for sure, but he should be. He is paid the most, and he plays a position that has the single biggest impact by far of any other position. That doesn't make him a victim or that he is to "blame for everything", it is just the deal with being a QB.

The writing on the wall is clear. The Vikings will obviously take Kirk back with flexibility to move on from in the next few years. They have no reason to be tied to him long term at this point in his career. Its going to come down to Kirk if he wants to play by these rules and see his replacement possibly on the team by next year. Its a sign a relief to see Kwesi and the Vikings see this very clear picture. If he doesn't want to they will just play the year out and shake hands and move on.
