Extend Cousins or ... ?

How much worse does an o line look with an immovable QB? Don't get me wrong we have rolled out some chit olines in recent seasons but I believe their inadequacies can be magnified by a QB who doesn't have the greatest pocket presence and can't move.

You also have to factor in Kevin dialing up way more passing plays as well as favoring those long-developing option routes that forces Kirk to burb the baby.

In a more balanced Offense in terms of Run vs. Pass with more Quick Passing plays sprinkled in I wonder how much better Cleveland and Ingram would have looked.

I just don’t understand how many don’t see this lol. Like do they forget for years they have been wrong about what this team would be with him? It’s the exact same discussions over and over when all of it has been answered and now proven over time what keeping him will look like for the team.

We have had a few different sets of coaches and offenses, elite weapons, even an elite defense still during his time here. The oline has never really been great but he’s the type of qb that makes it very hard on them as well in turn. It just doesn’t make sense to ignore that he has been part of the problem with his salary hits taking a toll (along with others as we pushed money out to compete with this core). He just hasn’t lived up to the money or expectations at all compared to when he was brought in.

It’s not the ones that have been wanting to move on from cousins that have been wrong season after season. 1 playoff win in 5 years is not something that should have so many defending/pushing to continue the route over and over but here we are yet again with the same circles.

What is it with the kirk lovers that they would continue with this same mediocrity? Come on... he's been in the league 10 yrs and has 1....1 po win!!! And costs the team 15% of the cap if not more. Why do you still want to creep down this hole of AVERAGE!?I'm going to say it again... if not for his Religiosity he would maybe get 10% of fans support! YEP you people like that he's a true believer...that doesn't translate to wins...certainly not PO/SB wins in and of itself! Just let him finish this contract and be done with it! I am not defending Cousins in this argument because I hate the Cousins argument all together and make fun of it quite a bit. It's the song that never ends.

Curious, why you wouldn't? These 3 are regarded as top 5 QBs in the league. Is it because of the years their fan bases have been wrong about them leading their team to Championships?

I agree, no matter how many times it’s proven in his career it’s the song that never ends with him. He could miss the playoffs the rest of his career and still people would make the same excuses until he retires.

I didn’t say anything like that lol. All 3 quarterbacks have much different traits and abilities while also having different context (not a single one I am aware of joined an nfc championship game team with keenum as qb and followed it up with one playoff win in 5 seasons). Allen has had far more playoff success in his 5 seasons in the league than cousins has his whole career (4x as many wins). Herbert is still young and growing as a qb, he’s only been in the league 3 years. Jackson I would be a bit skeptical on but even he is much younger and has the same level of success in his 5 seasons (despite some injuries) than cousins.

The issue with cousins isn’t solely about a championship at this point. Someone in another thread just posted about how our offense lacks in comparison to other sb contenders. Kirk is like 35 and we have seen time and time again how he plays in the biggest moments, even this year which I think was one of his best in terms of that look how it ended once it really mattered in the playoffs. We had an elite team and he won one playoff game in two seasons with that group then was a big issue in our loss to the 49ers. That’s the best season of his career at this point in terms of leading a team on a run. Due to his contract we keep getting further behind the cap and that team has fallen apart. These are things people should be realizing every year but somehow aren’t that I was referencing.
