I have already debunked this excuse. The fact of the matter is, it takes a better defense on average to win with Cousins than it does most of the good starting QBs around the league. More than some the average ones too.
Then there is this:
Patrick Mahome's 2022 SB winning defense: 2.11 points per drive given up
Kirk Cousins 2022 defense: 2.13
The Vikings D prevents one more FG and they would have given up just as many points as KC per drive.
And is that KC's numbers from the SB or the season?
And I would love to see the defense ppd numbers for Brady while he was in NE. That would be telling.
Funny how people only compare Cousins to Brady, or Rodger or Mahomes. Never other QB, like Herbert or Hurts.
The Eagles were 11th, outside the top 10, and I think that showed in the SB that while they were good, they weren't the biggest reason that team was the #1 seed.
I'm also curious as to what the Defense ppd was for the Eagles this year. Funny how people only compare Cousins to Brady, or Rodger or Mahomes. Never other QB, like Herbert or Hurts.
I see people compare Cousins to Herbert and Hurts all the time. Specifically "look at how much better those two QBs are than Cousins". That has shifted a bit with Herbert as he has failed to elevate his team for 3 straight seasons, proving that all QBs are held to the same standard once they get to a certain point of their careers.
